About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

The Academy is now actively seeking partnerships with schools, churches, colleges, universities, military bases, veteran service organizations, and community leaders to help expand its mission of service, empowerment, and workforce readiness.

Fayetteville, NC - The ShaDonna M. McPhaul Success Academy, a newly approved nonprofit organization by the North Carolina Secretary of State, is proud to announce that enrollment will open in October, with classes beginning the day after Veteran’s Day. The Academy is now actively seeking partnerships with schools, churches, colleges, universities, military bases, veteran service organizations, and community leaders to help expand its mission of service, empowerment, and workforce readiness.

Founded on the values of service, integrity, education, and community, the Academy is designed to meet the needs of veterans, service members, their families, and local residents. Its goal is to create stronger pathways for education, employment, housing stability, and personal growth.

Core Values That Drive the Mission

The ShaDonna M. McPhaul Success Academy is guided by seven core values:

  • Resilience and Growth – Inspiring individuals to overcome adversity and achieve lifelong success.

Benefits for Partners and Communities

The Academy offers unique opportunities for organizations to expand their impact while directly supporting community members.

  • High Schools: Students gain life skills, financial literacy, and real-world readiness to transition confidently into college, the workforce, or military service. Schools enhance their reputation for preparing graduates beyond academics.
  • Colleges & Universities: Partnerships reduce dropout rates, create stronger pipelines of career-ready students, and open collaboration opportunities for workshops, internships, and community outreach.
  • Churches: Ministries can extend their reach by offering resources for employment, housing, and personal development, positioning themselves as centers for empowerment.
  • Military Bases: Service members preparing for civilian life receive structured career pathways, while families access life-skills training that strengthens resilience.
  • Veteran Services Organizations: By working with the Academy, these organizations can expand their networks, align with missions of housing and employment support, and strengthen funding proposals through demonstrated collaboration.

Shared Community Impact

The Academy emphasizes that success is collective. By uniting schools, churches, employers, and service organizations, it aims to create lasting outcomes such as:

  • Workforce development and job readiness
  • Greater visibility and recognition for partner organizations
  • Shared access to employer pipelines and training tools
  • Stronger families and healthier, more prosperous communities

A Call to Action

With enrollment opening in October and the first classes launching in November, The ShaDonna M. McPhaul Success Academy is calling on community stakeholders to become partners in this movement. The Academy is positioned to help reduce unemployment, promote financial literacy, and inspire resilience in both youth and veterans.

“This is just the beginning,” said founder ShaDonna “Mo” McPhaul. “The Academy represents more than education—it’s about transformation, empowerment, and growth for individuals and the communities they belong to. Together, we can ensure no one is left behind.”
