About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

San Diego International Film Festival Expands for 24th Annual Event, October 15-19, 2025
The San Diego International Film Festival (SDIFF) proudly announces its expanded 24th annual celebration of cinema, taking place October 15–19, 2025. Known as the region’s premier film event where culture, coast, and cinema collide, the festival will showcase a dynamic mix of independent films, studio premieres, international features, documentaries, and shorts.

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 4, 2025 - The San Diego International Film Festival (SDIFF) proudly announces its expanded 24th annual celebration of cinema, taking place October 15–19, 2025. Known as the region’s premier film event where culture, coast, and cinema collide, the festival will showcase a dynamic mix of independent films, studio premieres, international features, documentaries, and shorts.

New Venues Elevate the Festival Experience

For 2025, SDIFF introduces exciting new locations:

  • Opening Night Film Premiere & Party at THE LOT La Jolla

  • Party With a Purpose fundraiser at the iconic Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach

  • Screenings and red-carpet events returning to The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center and AMC14 at Westfield UTC

“Sharing stories is at the heart of everything we do,” said Tonya Mantooth, CEO/Artistic Director. “This year we’re thrilled to partner with the House of Pacific Relations in Balboa Park, expanding our global reach and community connections.”

Prestigious Partnerships Strengthen San Diego’s Film Industry

Each year, SDIFF receives over 3,200 submissions from 85 countries, reinforcing its reputation as an internationally recognized film festival.

Highlights include:

  • VARIETY as Official Media Partner for the Night of the Stars Tribute

  • Presentation of the Gregory Peck Award of Excellence in Cinema, previously honoring Annette Bening, Laurence Fishburne, Andy Garcia, and Alan Arkin

These partnerships continue to position San Diego as a vibrant hub for filmmakers, talent, and industry leaders.

Celebrating Global Culture Through Film

The new collaboration with the House of Pacific Relations (HPR)—founded in 1935 and celebrating its 90th anniversary—aligns with SDIFF’s Foreign Film track. HPR represents 35 cultures through its houses in Balboa Park, making this partnership a perfect fit for the festival’s mission of multicultural understanding through film.

Red Carpet Glamour: Night of the Stars Tribute

Held at The Conrad in La Jolla, the Night of the Stars Tribute will honor actors and filmmakers with awards such as the Gregory Peck Award, Cinema Vanguard Award, and Rising Star Award.

Past honorees include Sir Patrick Stewart, Kate Beckinsale, Geena Davis, Judd Apatow, Adrien Brody, and Regina Hall, underscoring the festival’s ability to attract Hollywood’s top talent.

Film With Impact: Education & Community

Beyond screenings, SDIFF champions education through its FOCUS on Impact Program. Proceeds from Party With a Purpose support curriculum and conversations on social impact films delivered to San Diego high school students.

Key partners include the San Diego County Office of Education, San Diego Unified School District, and San Diego Community College District, ensuring the next generation engages with cinematic storytelling on global issues.

Festival Highlights: Films, Panels & Culinary Cinema

From October 16–19, audiences will enjoy:

  • Studio premieres, indie features, and international films at AMC UTC 14

  • Filmmaker Q&As and industry panels

  • The Fest Lounge for networking and discussion

A standout is Culinary Cinema on October 19, hosted by Shawn Styles of CBS8’s “Cooking with Styles.” This unique event pairs food-themed films with tastings inspired by leading San Diego chefs.

“Over the years, films screened at SDIFF have earned 36 Academy Awards and 167 nominations,” noted Mantooth. “We can’t wait to share this year’s slate with our community in September.”
