About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Momentum Advisors Expands Financial Planning Services for Athletes with Leadership from Will Platt, CFP®
Momentum Advisors

NEW YORK, NY - Momentum Advisors LLC, one of the nation’s largest minority-owned registered investment advisory firms, announces the continued growth of its specialized financial planning services for athletes, led by Will Platt, CFP®, Head of Financial Planning and Managing Partner. A former collegiate football player turned financial advisor, Platt has built a planning practice uniquely devoted to helping athletes navigate the complexities of their income, taxes, and long-term wealth strategies.

Athletes today face challenges that are often misunderstood outside of professional sports. Unlike traditional W-2 employees, most athletes earn income as 1099 independent contractors. While this structure can present significant hurdles, it also unlocks powerful opportunities for financial planning. With his background both on the field and in financial services, Will Platt is uniquely positioned to help athletes leverage these opportunities.

Platt’s commitment to athlete development runs deep. He served as a varsity football coach at St. Anthony’s High School on Long Island, where he led the team to its first-ever undefeated season and state championship over six impactful years. During this time, he also coached at the high school level more broadly and went on to found two youth travel football programs—the Long Island Spartans and Long Island Elite—that together have raised dozens of Division I football players, including athletes now competing in the Big Ten, ACC, and SEC. These formative experiences continue to shape his mission: empowering athletes to thrive both on and off the field.

Platt’s approach centers on guiding athletes through the establishment of legitimate business structures, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to retirement plans while strategically reducing tax liabilities. He also focuses on building strong financial teams for his clients, connecting them with accountants, bookkeepers, agents, and attorneys who align with their best interests. This integrated system allows athletes to keep more of their hard-earned income while laying the foundation for long-term financial security.

“Too often, athletes enter their professional careers without the financial literacy and planning tools needed to maximize their earnings,” said Will Platt. “My mission is to help them understand how to treat their income as business owners, not just players, and to ensure they’re prepared for both their playing years and life beyond sports.”

Platt’s dedication extends beyond his client roster. He developed a Rutgers football internship program focused on financial literacy, designed to educate student-athletes on the importance of managing money wisely from an early stage. He is also a founding member of the College of William & Mary’s NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) collective, helping athletes navigate new revenue opportunities responsibly.

Momentum Advisors, founded in 2012 by Allan Boomer, has grown to $400 million in assets under management, serving both individuals and charitable organizations. From its inception, the firm was built on a commitment to objective advice rather than product sales, with a vision of rebuilding trust in the financial services industry. Since joining the firm in 2014, Platt has played a pivotal role in expanding its comprehensive planning capabilities while maintaining a client-first philosophy.

“Our work at Momentum is about empowering clients to achieve financial freedom in ways that are sustainable and meaningful,” said Platt. “Athletes, in particular, deserve advisors who understand their unique circumstances and can provide guidance that secures their financial future.”

In addition to wealth management and financial planning, Momentum Advisors offers outsourced CIO services for non-profit organizations, foundations, and endowments, and produces the widely respected Momentum Advisors podcast, which highlights wealth creation and entrepreneurship.

For athletes seeking financial clarity, Momentum Advisors offers a partnership that combines professional expertise, lived experience, and an unwavering commitment to client success.
