About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Water Tower Research was founded to provide “Research for the Other 99%”, with a mission to improve the communication channels between companies and their stakeholders that have been impaired by dramatic structural changes to the conventional equity research and investor engagement models.

Commenting on the addition of Lisa Sowell, Charlie Phippen, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Adding someone of Lisa’s caliber to our organization will have a major impact on our ability to expand our brand with investors and further deliver for clients. Lisa has a tremendous reputation with institutional investors and a long track record of success in corporate access. She will work with our growing team of 11 equity research analysts and across all eight coverage sectors to build awareness with institutional investors for WTR’s content. We are very excited to have Lisa on our team.”

As we expand our brand across the investor spectrum, Lisa will be leading the charge of increasing WTR’s mindshare and broadening our reach with a program of corporate access. In addition to more than doubling our analyst base in 2022, Lisa marks the fifth senior hire within our Investor Engagement team this year.”

With more than a quarter century of proven success in institutional sales and management, Lisa has spent the last 12 years as Managing Director for the Southeast and Midwest Regions.  Her experience in sell-side firms with top-tier asset managers in New York, Boston, Kansas City, Denver, and Atlanta includes Robinson Humphrey, Morgan Keegan, Raymond James Financial, Sterne Agee, Macquarie, and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Lisa’s unswerving commitment to excellence, as evidenced by her tandem top-drawer skills in forming strong personal and institutional relationships and delivering paramount customer service, explains Lisa’s perennial position as one of the top performers in the business. Lisa has been dubbed by her competitors as the “Queen of the Non-Deal Roadshow”.

Lisa earned a BBA degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta. In her free time, Lisa enjoys competitive FITASC shooting and has been nationally ranked being chosen for Team USA.
