Blake Mather, the former Head of Bank Loan Sales, and Co-Head of High Yield and Distressed Sales at Goldman Sachs, joins SEDA as Expert Witness

New York, NY, January 9, 2022 – SEDA Experts LLC announced today that Blake Mather joined the firm’s Leveraged Finance leaders’ group as an expert witness.

His expertise in capital markets across multiple fixed-income products, including high-yield debt, loans, and distressed assets, as well as valuation and pricing across the capital structure, will contribute to fulfilling our ongoing commitment to providing our clients with the highest level of expertise across the financial industry,” said Peter Selman, Managing Partner and Chairman of SEDA Experts.

Mr. Mather is an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut Business School, where he has taught classes at the undergraduate and graduate level in corporate valuation, portfolio management and fixed income. He also serves as a member of the Investment Advisory Board and advisor to the Student Managed Funds at the University.

Prior to his academic career, Mr. Mather spent 25 years in investment banking where as a partner in the leveraged finance business at Goldman Sachs he gained extensive experience in US and European financial markets.

He was the Head of Bank Loan Sales at Goldman Sachs, managing a team of 26 professionals who were responsible for the trading and distribution of multiple products, including performing and nonperforming loans, PIKs, credit default swaps, CLOs, Holdco notes, second lien structures, distressed debt, LBOs, and private credit origination. Mr. Mather was further responsible for senior product-level relationships with many of the largest institutional investors within leveraged finance and had divisional relationship management responsibilities for multiple global accounts.

Prior to running Bank Loan Sales, he held a similar role on the public side of Goldman Sachs’s Leveraged Finance Business, as Co-Head of High Yield and Distressed debt from 2002-2005. Mr. Mather established and managed three new businesses for Goldman Sachs in London from 1997-2002, starting the European High Yield, Emerging Markets Debt, and Bank Loans sales businesses.  From 2000-2002 Mr. Mather was the Head of the European High Yield Syndicate and a senior European Capital Markets Debt Origination team member.
