About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Vivien Keszthelyi and David Schumacher at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix - The Racing Duo Arrives with a Mission

By: Prodigy
07/10/2023, Budapest // PRODIGY: Feature Story //

On July 23rd, 2023, the field of the Hungarian Grand Prix in Formula 1 will start for the 38th time, and for the 13th consecutive year on Pirelli tires, following the first race organized in 1986. The prestigious race has always attracted great interest among motor racing fans, and there will be no shortage of excitement and stars this year. However, this year's race is significant for other reasons as well.

Vivien Keszthelyi and David Schumacher

At one of the most important races in the dense European competition calendar, two notable Generation Z racing drivers, Vivien Keszthelyi and her partner, David Schumacher, will make an appearance. The two athletes hardly need an introduction: Vivien Keszthelyi, a three-time touring car champion and member of the Audi Sport racing academy, has gained widespread recognition as the most successful F3 pilot in Hungarian motorsport history. David Schumacher, who swapped his formula car for a GT race car this year competing in DTM and GTWC series in Mercedes AMG colors, has become a fan favorite as the youngest claimant to the Schumacher family throne. The athletes are not only coming to the Hungarian race weekend with the F1 team, but they also have an important mission and messages for their followers and partners.

Speed and cutting-edge technology, outstanding athletic performance, euphoric atmosphere - just a few things that have remained unchanged in the history of the top category for decades. However, maintaining its true essence, the thrilling circus owes its unwavering popularity to its constant renewal. From this year, Formula 1 helps the world's most vulnerable children access quality education as a partner of UNICEF, supporting the humanitarian efforts of the aid organization worldwide. An important part of UNICEF's work involves helping children who have fallen into difficult situations due to natural disasters, such as the recent earthquakes in Turkey or Syria.

Social responsibility is not just a slogan hoisted onto the flag of the entire sport. The rise of Generation Z in the motorsport world, parallel to the rise of new talents, also allows for the spread of more responsible thinking at the individual level. The stars of the young generation have to perform just as well on the race track as their legendary predecessors, but their task goes beyond outstanding sports performance: they must learn to use the opportunities given by fame and increased media interest to serve the causes that are important to them.

UNICEF charity items - Pirelli F1 P Zero tire and Ferrari Trento F1® Podium Jeroboam (3l) champagne

Vivien Keszthelyi is leading the way among her peers in this respect as well. For years, she has been supporting the work of the aid organization, and as an UNICEF champion, she will host a charity auction for Formula 1 relics, concluding on the evening of July 23 after the race, where bids can be made on an online platform. The unique Pirelli F1 P Zero tire, offered by Pirelli, is the same that the pole-winning F1 driver receives after the race qualifying, while the traditional Ferrari Trento F1® Podium Jeroboam (3l) champagne is how the top three racers celebrate after the race. The awards will be presented to the highest bidder by Vivien Keszthelyi and Matteo Schiavo, Managing Director of Pirelli Hungary. The entire proceeds from the auction will be donated to UNICEF Hungary, contributing to the education of children living in the most difficult circumstances in the world.

The after-party will also be a special event in terms of environmental consciousness. Just like the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring this year, BOLT will be the official taxi service for the after-party, maintaining sustainability by exclusively using environmentally friendly taxis at the evening event. Few people know, but BOLT's Budapest fleet already includes more than 150 vehicles with alternative propulsion.

True to their convictions and values, Keszthelyi and Schumacher will also utilize these vehicles during the Hungarian event series, with the openly stated goal of setting an example to the widest possible audience and encouraging their partners and fans to think consciously and take responsibility in their everyday actions, as well as in their most important business decisions. Recognizing the responsibility that comes with fame, the popular Gen Z pair seize every opportunity to convey these important messages.

Vivien Keszthelyi

The 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix weekend offers a glimpse into what awaits us in the coming years: Racing is known to be the cradle of future carbon-neutral, high-tech developments and research, but it is a heartening trend that more and more large companies with responsible thinking are emerging in everyday life. Thanks to these corporations, alternative fuels and alternative propulsion systems are becoming increasingly commonplace.
