About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

BRYCER, the leading provider of public safety technology and creator of The Compliance Engine (TCE), announces the appointment of Peter James Kiernan as Vice President of Operations. Kiernan’s extensive operational leadership experience in private equity, government operations, and military service uniquely positions him to advance BRYCER’s mission of driving fire code compliance and enhancing life safety systems nationwide.

BRYCER is a national leader in public safety technology, dedicated to helping jurisdictions efficiently manage fire code compliance and safety systems through The Compliance Engine (TCE).

Before joining BRYCER, Kiernan served as Vice President at TA Associates, scaling operations across technology and business services companies. Previously, he served on the NYS COVID-19 Task Force, where he led response operations across over 80 state agencies and a workforce of more than 267,000 personnel. Kiernan also oversaw multi-agency initiatives and crisis management as Deputy Chief of Staff for State Operations at the New York State Governor's Office. Additionally, his military career as a MARSOC Raider included combat operations in Afghanistan. His background of public service aligns perfectly with BRYCER’s goal of safeguarding communities through efficient fire protection code compliance solutions.

“I’m excited to be part of a fast-growing organization dedicated to making communities safer,” said Kiernan. "My background is centered on solving complex problems that directly impact people's safety and well-being. I'm thrilled to bring that experience to BRYCER and help communities' nationwide benefit from our essential compliance solutions."

BRYCER’s The Compliance Engine helps Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) efficiently manage fire and life safety systems, streamlining third-party reporting, automating compliance tracking, and ensuring accuracy in enforcement of the fire protection code. TCE significantly reduces administrative burdens, accelerates corrective actions, minimizes false alarms, and ensures safer communities. BRYCER also offers specialized Backflow prevention software designed specifically to protect water supplies through rigorous compliance management, addressing another critical area of community safety.

In his new role, Kiernan will lead our efforts to streamline operational processes, improve service delivery, and scale our organization to accelerate the adoption of TCE nationwide. He will also support BRYCER’s continued growth by advancing specialized compliance solutions, including the company’s dedicated Elevator Safety module, ensuring comprehensive coverage of essential safety needs across jurisdictions.

“Peter’s operational background and leadership experience will help us run more efficiently and scale our impact across the country,” said Bryan Schultz, Co-Founder of BRYCER. "We’re excited for his leadership to further our commitment to fire code compliance and community safety."
