About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

BRYCER Expands Headquarters to Advance Fire Code Compliance and Public Safety Nationwide

By: Prodigy
07/02/2025, Warrenville, IL // PRODIGY: Feature Story //

BRYCER, the leading provider of public safety technology and creator of The Compliance Engine (TCE), is moving into a new, larger headquarters this September. The new office, located in Lisle, IL, more than doubles BRYCER’s current space and reflects the steady growth of the company, its team, and the jurisdictions it serves across the country.

The expansion comes at a time when BRYCER is supporting more jurisdictions than ever, helping them manage the rising volume of inspections, reports, and code enforcement challenges. The move isn’t just about having more room—it's about building the capacity to support that growth with the right people, tools, and resources.

BRYCER is a national leader in public safety technology, helping jurisdictions manage fire code compliance, improve communication, and keep buildings and communities safe.

Meeting a Real Need in Fire Code Compliance

Every year, about 40% of life safety systems in the U.S. go untested or unmaintained. Many jurisdictions don’t have the staff or systems in place to follow up on overdue inspections or incomplete reports. That’s where BRYCER comes in.

At the core of the company’s work is The Compliance Engine (TCE): a secure, cloud-based platform that allows third-party inspection companies to submit reports directly to the local jurisdiction. The system helps track compliance, flag deficiencies, and support enforcement—all in one place.

“We’re growing because the need is real. Most cities are short on staff and time. TCE gives them a way to stay on top of code compliance without falling behind,” said Bryan Schultz, Co-Founder of BRYCER. “This new space lets us bring in more people, support more partners, and keep building the tools that help jurisdictions every day.”

A Growing Team to Support a Growing Mission

Today, more than 1,420 jurisdictions and thousands of inspection companies rely on BRYCER. To keep up, the team is growing across several departments—including:

  • Customer Success – supporting jurisdictions as they get started and scale

  • Engineering & Product Development – improving the tools and adding new features

  • Compliance Review & Data Quality – helping ensure the reports that reach jurisdictions are complete and accurate

  • Sales – introducing new cities to BRYCER’s platform and services

  • Marketing – sharing success stories and helping explain how compliance works

  • Client Experience – making sure every jurisdiction and service provider gets the help they need when they need it

Making your Community Safe

Whether it’s fire systems, backflow prevention, or elevator safety, BRYCER helps communities turn incomplete reports into clear next steps—making it easier to fix issues and reduce risk.

The Compliance Engine helps jurisdictions move away from paper processes and into a modern, digital approach that saves time and helps protect lives.
