About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

The global children’s charity, The Atlas Foundation, provides diverse ways to fundraise, support events, donate or contribute to projects. All funds raised are used to finance initiatives and schemes around the world that help the most vulnerable, disadvantaged children.

Following sustained interest in the charity’s exciting events calendar, and enquiries about other ways companies, schools and organisations can get involved, the Foundation has shared an updated list of opportunities to support its work, driving towards a better future for children in every corner of the planet.

The Background of The Atlas Foundation’s Fundraising Events

Founded by rugby great Jason Leonard, OBE, The Atlas Foundation has swiftly gained attention as a charity backed by a glittering roster of trustees, ambassadors and champions. Nearly all hail from the world of professional rugby, from international players past and present to coaches, spokespeople and grassroots players.

Using the collective passion for rugby, and the innate ability of sport to unite, empower and connect people across divides, the charity has, in just ten years, had a positive and sustained impact on the lives of 219,203 children, collaborating with 47 international partners in 21 countries.

Part of the momentum behind this work has been the chance to make a real-world difference to children who live in hardship and poverty, with unique events that range from physical challenges to luxurious experiences. In the coming months, these include:

  • The inaugural Lions Test Charity watch party at The Cabbage Patch, Twickenham, and the Legends Series in Sydney at the North Sydney Oval.
  • An extraordinary Highland Hiking Challenge in Scotland covering 1,334 km in just one day.
  • Jason Leonard’s Annual Gala Dinner, hosted at The Ballroom, JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London – a black-tie and VIP event, joined by an all-star line-up of rugby royalty.
  • The Atlas Trek 2025 in Morocco - an endurance challenge where fundraisers will journey to the summit, led by mountaineer specialists.

As these popular events showcase, fundraisers, donors, and supporters do not necessarily need to enjoy, participate in or come from the rugby world, and although many do, there are ample ways to support the charity's ambitions and projects.

Alternative and Accessible Ways to Get Involved With The Atlas Foundation

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, General Manager, Peter Scott says, ‘We’ve long been known for our fundraising events, championing adventure, participation, and aspiration, but recognise that many events require considerable commitments of time and may not be feasible for those who otherwise share our passion for improving children’s life changes.

We have created numerous ways to participate in as big or as small a way as individuals and organisations wish. Every donation, message of support, and contribution is incredibly valued and inspires us to continue pursuing our mission to create a brighter, fairer future.

The team here at Atlas welcomes new ideas, and we’ve been extremely grateful for the support extended from schools, community organisations and other groups, as well as inspiring individuals who have done everything from host non-uniform days to collect donations at tournaments, take on personal challenges and hold bake sales.

If you have an idea or need resources and support to set up your very own fundraising event, changing lives with every penny, we invite you to register your interest. We'll ensure you have everything you need to get started, joining a long list of amazing supporters who are actively contributing to making lasting change in the communities that need it most.’

Options to Fundraise or Support the Work of The Atlas Foundation

Prospective supporters can consider personal fundraising events like quiz nights and running events or registering with GivenGain. This platform enables individuals and organisations to choose how they'd like to share funds raised between the charities of their choice.

Other options include school-based fundraising, volunteering time and enthusiasm at Atlas events, something many young people use to gain school or undergraduate work experience, donating in memory of a loved one, and leaving a gift in a Will.

The charity publishes links and information about all fundraising initiatives, events and schemes via its website and has a responsive support team who remain available to answer questions and provide more tailored guidance.
