About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Burnham Nationwide, a national leader in permit expediting, building code consulting, and full-lifecycle construction services, is pleased to announce that Casey Reilly has officially stepped into the leadership of its California Division. In this role, he will oversee all operations for the Greater Los Angeles region and Southern California, bringing strategic vision, proven experience, and deep ties to Burnham’s culture.

Burnham Nationwide operates in more than 3,000 municipalities across the United States and works alongside owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and municipalities to simplify the process of securing approvals, permits, and licenses.

Casey Reilly originally joined the company in 2017 at the Los Angeles office and contributed to its growth through several critical phases of expansion and process transformation. After spending two and a half years gaining external experience on the developer side, Reilly returned to Burnham in January of this year. In stepping into the Division Lead position, he aims to refine long-standing permit and code processes, champion best practices, and help Burnham scale its impact in the CA market.

“I’m truly honored for the opportunity to lead and support our amazing California Division,” said Reilly. “Burnham’s culture has always championed authenticity and growth, both professionally and personally. I’m excited to build on that strong foundation as we expand our reach and continue shaping the built environment in meaningful, forward-thinking ways.”

Under Reilly’s leadership, Burnham’s Los Angeles office (located at 515 S. Figueroa Street, Suite 1275) will continue delivering comprehensive services including permit expediting, building code consulting, and specialist services like historic preservation approvals, noise variance permits, contractor licensing, traffic approvals, and other local and municipal licensing. Burnham has been active in Southern California for over a decade, and has worked on many major developments and skyscraper projects across downtown LA and neighboring communities.

With a deep understanding of both business and permitting lifecycles, Reilly will drive efforts to streamline submissions (paper, digital, over-the-counter), navigate varied municipal jurisdictions, and reduce delays that often accompany complex regulatory compliance. He plans to leverage Burnham’s existing LA office strengths and support structures—such as experienced local plan reviewers and code consultants—to ensure projects proceed more efficiently.
