About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

MVP Accident Attorneys Offer Support to LA County Residents Affected by Devastating Wildfires

What We Know About the Five Wildfires 1

Los Angeles, California – As California faces a crisis with multiple wildfires raging throughout Los Angeles County, the legal team at MVP Accident Attorneys is offering its services to those affected by the destruction. With five wildfires still burning and the state of emergency remaining in effect, the impact on residents has been catastrophic. Over 1,300 structures have been destroyed, and more than 180,000 people have been forced to evacuate. Tragically, five lives have been lost, and thousands of homes are without power. The Pacific Palisades fire, which ignited on January 7, 2025, has burned over 17,000 acres, making it the most destructive wildfire in LA County’s history.

What We Know About the Five Wildfires

The fires that have ravaged LA County span across different regions, each contributing to widespread destruction. The Pacific Palisades fire started on January 7 and has already devastated more than 17,000 acres. That same day, the Eaton Fire ignited in national forest lands north of downtown LA, consuming over 10,000 acres and claiming five lives. The Sylmar fire began that evening and has so far burned over 855 acres, with containment efforts still underway. The Sunset Fire in Hollywood Hills has been contained but burned 60 acres, and a fire near Acton, in the Sierra Pelon and San Gabriel Mountains, continues to threaten homes and communities.

At this time, only the Sunset Fire in Hollywood Hills has been fully contained. According to Anthony C. Marrone, the Los Angeles County fire chief, “There are not enough firefighters in L.A. County to address four separate fires of this magnitude.”

With evacuation orders affecting more than 180,000 people, the situation remains dire. Due to congested traffic and hazardous conditions, city workers have been forced to use bulldozers to clear roads for those trying to evacuate.

  • Pursuing Compensation: Losing your home or a loved one is a tragedy no one should face alone.
  • Dealing with Insurance Companies: Insurance claims in wildfire cases can be complicated and frustrating. Insurance companies may try to minimize payouts, cancel policies, or deny claims in wildfire-related cases. Who Could Be Liable for Wildfire Damage?

Liability for wildfire damage can fall on several parties, including:

  • Utility Companies: If faulty equipment or poor maintenance by a utility company (such as PG&E) caused the fire, they may be held accountable.
  • Government Entities: Government agencies responsible for land management may face liability if they failed to take preventive measures that could have minimized the spread of the fire.
  • Private Landowners: Negligent landowners who fail to maintain their property, such as not clearing brush or failing to implement fire safety measures, can be held responsible.
  • Negligent Contractors or Manufacturers: If a defective product or poorly executed work caused the fire, those responsible for the failure can be held liable.
  • Arsonists: If the fire was intentionally set, the person or group responsible could face both criminal and civil liability.
