About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Peter Brill of Brill Legal Group Defends Former NYPD Police Chief Against Allegations

New York, New YorkNew York City criminal defense attorney Peter Brill of Brill Legal Group is representing former NYPD Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey against allegations of sexual misconduct. The accusations, levied by a former subordinate, have been categorically denied by Maddrey, who maintains his innocence.

In a statement to the press, Peter Brill outlined the former chief’s distinguished 34-year career in the NYPD. Starting as a traffic agent, Maddrey rose through the ranks to become the department’s highest-ranking uniformed officer. Brill highlighted Maddrey’s pivotal role in reducing violent crimes and overseeing the operations of over 33,500 officers, as well as his contributions during moments of crisis, such as the George Floyd protests.

“These allegations are baseless and represent an attempt to deflect attention from the complainant’s own actions,” said Brill during the press conference. He referred to internal NYPD investigations that revealed the accuser, Lieutenant Q. Epps, had allegedly submitted fraudulent overtime claims earlier this year.

The allegations against Maddrey surfaced shortly after Lieutenant Epps applied for retirement, coinciding with an ongoing internal investigation into her overtime submissions. According to Brill, Epps has been under scrutiny for allegedly claiming false overtime hours and is now using these accusations to redirect blame.

“The evidence overwhelmingly supports Chief Maddrey’s innocence,” Brill stated. He cited communications, including text messages and photographs from Epps, that indicate a consensual relationship rather than coercion. “The checks and balances in the NYPD’s overtime approval system make it clear that Chief Maddrey had no role in authorizing or approving the alleged overtime payments,” he added.

Brill emphasized Maddrey’s contributions to the communities he served, noting an outpouring of support from former colleagues and residents. “Jeff Maddrey is not only a respected officer but a devoted family man and a newly practicing attorney,” Brill said, adding that Maddrey earned his law degree while serving in the NYPD.

Despite retiring to protect the department from further distractions, Maddrey plans to fight the allegations vigorously. “The city has enough challenges without these unfounded accusations. Chief Maddrey is ready to clear his name and hold those responsible accountable,” Brill declared.

The legal team is preparing to litigate the matter and address the allegations in court if necessary. They have also questioned the timing and motives behind the claims, pointing to inconsistencies and the involvement of an attorney previously associated with dismissed cases against Maddrey.
