About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Religious Leaders Unite in Combatting Social Ills

A recent workshop for community leaders and religious professionals held at Castle Kyalami in Midrand, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to work together toward the achievement of shared goals, principal among which is the eradication of the poverty mindset in South Africa.

A recent workshop at Castle Kyalami in Midrand brought together community leaders and religious professionals to address pressing social issues. The Scientology Volunteer Ministers and the National Apostolic Federation of Churches in South Africa (NAFCSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on shared goals, including eradicating the poverty mindset in South Africa.

The partnership centers around the Tools for Life program, a curriculum of 19 practical life skills modules developed by L. Ron Hubbard. This program covers essential skills like communication, ethics, leadership, and support for social issues such as gender-based violence, alcohol and drug abuse, and grief.

Over 3,500 religious and spiritual leaders have already been empowered with the Tools for Life program, reporting an average increase in community engagement of 20%. Apostle Thabo Sishange, founder of NAFCSA, praises the partnership, saying, "This collaboration will help change the mindset of our members, especially our youth, and empower them to reach their full potential. Our young people often do not recognize their potential, but this program can help them take their lives into their own hands and realize their capabilities."

Sandile Hlayisi, Chairperson of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Africa, adds, "We value working with anyone who shares our purpose of improving society. This partnership will make a real difference. We are excited to work together to address the social challenges facing our communities."

The two organizations plan to train 200 religious leaders under the Gauteng Region of the NAFCSA in the first phase of the partnership. NAFCSA has branches in several provinces across South Africa and plans to extend this training to them all, with the goal of empowering the religious sector to create a better and more prosperous South Africa.

The genesis of the partnership began with Apostle Sishange's search for workable solutions to address the future of South African youth. He discovered the Tools for Life program and recognized its potential to change people's mindset away from dependency. He believes the program can help individuals take control of their lives and realize their full potential.

"I see this MOU taking us a long way in changing the mindset of our church members, especially our youth," Apostle Sishange added. "God loves us, and he created us in his image. I feel that this program gives people a workable approach to put into practice what God wants them to do."

By working together, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers and NAFCSA aim to make a positive impact on South African communities and create a brighter future for all.
