About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Yuba City DOT SAP Program To Help Employees Regain Compliance: Service Announced

Addiction Resource Center’s (530-593-1098) DOT SAP Program in Yuba City, CA helps employees regain compliance and return to work after a substance-related violation.

-- Addiction Resource Center (ARC) has announced its Department of Transportation (DOT) Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Program, designed to help employees return to duty after a DOT violation while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and promoting workplace safety.

More information can be found at Addiction Resource Center - DOT SAP Program.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), more than 2.7 million Californians struggle with substance use disorders, underscoring the importance of structured recovery programs like ARC’s DOT SAP Program. This initiative not only supports individuals in overcoming substance use issues but also improves workplace safety and compliance.

“Our DOT SAP Program is designed to help individuals regain control of their careers and lives while ensuring workplace safety,” said a spokesperson for Addiction Resource Center. “With expert guidance and a structured process, we make it possible for employees to complete the necessary steps and return to work with confidence.”

Substance use in the workplace can have serious consequences, and DOT regulations require that safety-sensitive employees who violate drug and alcohol policies complete a structured return-to-duty process.

The DOT SAP Program follows a structured process to ensure compliance. Firstly, employees who violate DOT drug and alcohol regulations must undergo an evaluation by a licensed SAP professional to determine the necessary steps for recovery.

Based on the initial evaluation, employees receive recommendations for counseling, treatment programs, or educational courses, all of which must be completed to proceed. After treatment, employees must complete a second assessment to confirm compliance and readiness for work.

Furthermore, a negative drug and alcohol test is required before returning to safety-sensitive positions. Employers receive official SAP reports confirming compliance. To ensure continued adherence to DOT regulations, employees must complete unannounced drug and alcohol tests for an extended period.

ARC’s program offers key benefits, including compliance assurance, expert SAP guidance, and a fast return-to-duty process, allowing employees to move forward in their careers without unnecessary delays.
