About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Melbourne Engineered Chevron Flooring With 100% Recycled Timber: Range Expanded

Reconstructed (1300-198-588) has expanded its selection of engineered hardwood flooring to include Chevron timber, offering Melbourne homeowners and businesses a high-quality flooring option made from 100% recycled Australian hardwood.

-- The newly added engineered Chevron timber from Reconstructed combines the classic appeal of chevron parquetry with the strength and eco-friendly benefits of reclaimed hardwood, offering customers premium flooring with a lower environmental footprint.

More details can be found at https://www.reconstructed.com.au/product-category/flooring/

Made from a mix of eucalyptus wood, Reconstructed’s engineered Chevron timber is salvaged and restored in partnership with its sister company, The Salvage Centre. Unlike mass-produced flooring, every plank is unique, featuring individual grain patterns, knots, and natural variations that add character and depth to any space.

Each board is kiln-dried to maintain a stable 9% moisture content, minimising the risk of warping due to humidity or temperature changes. Pre-finished with three coats of Loba Eco for added durability, the floorboards come with a square end-matched joint system for a seamless fit. Customers can select between a UV-lacquered or natural oil finish to complement their interior style.

Reconstructed sources its timber from old homes, factories, and warehouses slated for demolition. Instead of being discarded, these materials are carefully inspected, sorted, and re-milled into high-quality products, preserving the rich character of aged hardwood while reducing reliance on newly harvested timber. This process helps curb deforestation and lower carbon emissions, giving customers flooring that is both long-lasting and environmentally responsible.

Besides Chevron timber, Reconstructed offers a diverse selection of other sustainable flooring options, including solid recycled overlay, Tasmanian oak, rough-sawn timber, and engineered herringbone. Each product is designed to meet a variety of aesthetic preferences while maintaining the durability and charm of reclaimed wood.

“When you choose our recycled timber, you’re not just making an environmentally conscious decision—you’re investing in superior quality,” a company representative said. “Old timber has a strength and character you can’t replicate with new materials. It’s denser, more durable, and naturally resistant to pests like termites.”

About Reconstructed

Reconstructed also provides an extensive range of reclaimed timber products in addition to flooring. Customers can explore custom and pre-made furniture, timber cladding, stair treads, and doors, all crafted from sustainably sourced hardwood. Serving both retail and wholesale markets, the company ships Australia-wide, making high-quality recycled timber accessible to homeowners, builders, and designers across the country.
