About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

NJ Financial Help For Roof Upgrades: Tax Credit Eligibility Resource Announced

New Jersey-wide home improvement contractor Elevated Remodeling ((800) 672-8519) has announced a new resource highlighting the availability of tax credits for homeowners who choose certain energy-efficient shingles as part of full roof replacement projects.

-- Elevated Remodeling’s recently announced resource brings much-needed clarity to the subject of incentives, financial or otherwise, for roofing upgrades in New Jersey. It notes that local homeowners could be eligible for routes that can significantly offset the cost of roof shingle replacement projects - including federal tax credit options.

For more information, see: https://elevatedremodeling.com/2024/09/24/new-jersey-tax-credits-rebates-for-shingle-roof-replacement/

Applicable to full roof replacement work, such credits are available as the state of New Jersey looks to encourage the installation of Energy Star-certified roofing materials. Those who opt for asphalt shingles with cooling granules or metal roofs with pigmented coatings can benefit from the credit program - so long as the materials are implemented across their entire roofing system.

The aforementioned roofing material variations are specifically designed to lower energy consumption by reflecting sunlight and absorbing less heat when compared with traditional systems. This is a highly coveted result in a society that’s grown increasingly aware of the relationship between ongoing home cooling and carbon emissions, which is why New Jersey is incentivizing homeowners to take action accordingly.

Highlighting the application process, Elevated Remodeling writes: “Work with a reliable roofing contractor to select Energy Star-certified roofing materials that meet the eligibility criteria. Ensure that the roof is fully replaced with the qualifying materials. Fill out IRS Form 5695 - this form is used to claim Residential Energy Credits.”

The contractor also explains that the claim amount for these credits can be up to 30% of the installation after the fact, hitting a maximum of $1200. This is a potentially substantial form of tax relief, lowering the applicant’s liability as a direct reward for their choice of roofing replacement materials.

Elevated Remodeling cites its own experience in helping New Jersey homeowners stay compliant with the necessary energy standards when selecting materials for their roof replacement projects. The contractor works with industry-proven shingles and other systems known for a combination of quality and durability, ensuring that the resulting installations bring short and long-term benefits, says its team.

Their spokesperson adds: “We use GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in partnership with their full lifetime roofing system. This provides our customers with a variety of options and the safety of a great warranty.”
