About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

The Biblical Story Of Ruth, Retold: Christian Story For Young Girls Announced

Betty Johansen publishes 'Ruth: Finding My True Love,' a first-person retelling of the biblical story for young girls. The former teacher's book presents Ruth's journey of faith, perseverance and courage in an accessible format for young readers.

-- Wordsmith World announces the publication of 'Ruth: Finding My True Love,' a fictionalized retelling of the biblical story of Ruth by author Betty Johansen. This new release presents the ancient narrative through a first-person perspective, allowing young readers to experience Ruth's story directly through her own voice and perspective.

Johansen, a former teacher of Chemistry, Integrated Physics, and 7th Grade Science, created this adaptation to share the themes found in the Book of Ruth with a younger audience. The author drew inspiration from her family's interest in the biblical account and worked to make its lessons accessible to young girls who might otherwise find the ancient text challenging to approach.

The original Book of Ruth recounts how a Moabite woman commits herself to the Israelite people through an oath to her mother-in-law Naomi after both women are widowed. Ruth's famous declaration, "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God," forms the foundation of her story of loyalty and faith. Ruth later marries Boaz of Bethlehem and becomes the great-grandmother of King David, placing her in the ancestral line that leads to Jesus.

In her retelling, Johansen maintains fidelity to the biblical narrative while creating an engaging format for young readers. The story highlights the values of perseverance through hardship, community support, and personal courage that characterize Ruth in scripture. By presenting these themes through Ruth's own voice, Johansen makes the ancient story relatable to contemporary young readers.

'Ruth: Finding My True Love' adds to Johansen's collection of Christian-inspired literature. Her previous publication, 'Hawaiian Wildflower,' is a murder mystery that incorporates Christian values and appropriate language for all readers, demonstrating her versatility across different genres while maintaining her faith-based approach.

A lifelong resident of West Texas, Johansen applies her background as an educator and her Christian faith to her writing. Her works combine entertainment with faith-affirming messages, presenting stories with both intrigue and moral clarity. Johansen believes that storytelling serves as an effective vehicle for communicating biblical principles to readers of all ages.

The Book of Ruth has long been valued for its literary quality and theological significance. Scholars note its beautiful construction, effective use of dialogue, and profound insights into divine and human relationships. By adapting this text for young readers, Johansen continues a tradition of making biblical stories accessible to new generations.
