About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

NBA Superstar Dwight Howard Launches Global $20,000 Mobile Gaming Challenge Through Runner Runner App

Dwight Howard partners with Runner Runner app to launch a $20,000 global mobile gaming challenge running August 1–31, open to all players worldwide.

-- NBA veteran and international basketball icon Dwight Howard has officially partnered with PlaySphere Studios to launch a global mobile gaming competition, offering a $20,000 cash prize to the top performer on the Runner Runner app during the month of August. The initiative marks Howard’s entrance into the competitive gaming space and signals an expansion of real-world incentives in mobile gameplay.

Open to players worldwide beginning August 1, 2025, the Runner Runner $20K Challenge will reward the highest-scoring user on the monthly leaderboard with a $20,000 cash prize. In addition to the top spot, surprise giveaways will be distributed to randomly selected participants ranked between #2 and #100. Contestants must complete their in-game profiles with verified information to be eligible for prizing.

Runner Runner, developed by PlaySphere Studios, is a fast-paced, multiplayer infinite runner available on iOS and Android. Since its launch in April 2024, the game has gained traction across 176 countries with a growing base of players drawn by its real-time challenges, vibrant themed environments, and tangible rewards. The August event allows players to compete across eight dynamic landscapes, including Neon Tokyo Skyline and Candyland, with leaderboards updated live.

“I’m excited to team up with Runner Runner because this game isn’t just fun — it gives back,” says Dwight Howard in an official announcement. “You don’t need to be a pro gamer. Just jump in, play, and you could win twenty racks. Let’s see who’s got what it takes.”

This collaboration underscores the rising influence of professional athletes in the gaming industry and reflects a broader trend of integrating competitive play with real-life rewards. PlaySphere Studios has previously attracted attention for its integration of digital entertainment and tangible prize systems — offering gift cards, custom avatars, and even physical deliveries to players’ homes.

Howard, who continues to engage fans both on and off the court, brings his global audience into a new realm of digital interaction. The partnership with PlaySphere signals a shared vision of expanding access, engagement, and opportunities in mobile gaming.

The Runner Runner $20K Challenge runs from August 1 to August 31, 2025. The app is available now for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Players can join the challenge at https://runner-api.playspherestudios.com/download?referralCode=f0k1LU.
