About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

New Testament Study Guide With Bite-Sized Lessons: Christian Book Released

Author Betty Johansen has announced a New Testament Study Guide, written by her mother, Elizabeth Johansen, offering readers a practical way to explore the Scripture.

-- The new study guide offers lessons that bring the New Testament’s teachings to life and show their relevance today. With a format that works for busy readers, the workbook combines Scripture readings, thoughtful questions, and practical exercises for people at any stage of their faith journey.

More details can be found at https://bettyjohansen.com/2025/02/01/unlocking-gods-wisdom-with-bible-study-guides/

The guide was originally written by Betty Johansen’s mother, Elizabeth, who earned a degree in religious education and taught Bible classes at the local high school. Betty adapted the guide for today’s readers, preserving her mother’s thoughtful approach while making it accessible to a wider audience.

“The New Testament is not just a historical document,” Betty notes. “Its lessons continue to speak to us, offering guidance, hope, and perspective on how to live with faith and purpose.”

Organized into bite-sized lessons and thought-provoking exercises, the guide explores major New Testament themes: how Jesus’ life and ministry fulfilled the promises of the Old Testament, the meaning of the Beatitudes as a guide for modern living, the parables and their lessons for today’s challenges, and how the letters of Paul and other apostles shaped the early church and continue to do so today.

To help readers engage deeply with the material, the book balances short-answer questions with thought-provoking prompts that encourage personal reflection and discussion. Readers are introduced to the inductive Bible study method, which helps them identify key themes, understand their historical context, and reflect on how the teachings apply to their lives.

Johansen suggests setting aside regular time for study, finding a quiet space free of distractions, and combining personal reflection with group discussions to gain fresh perspectives. “Take time to meditate on the passages and consider their implications for your journey,” she recommends. “Discussing what you’ve learned with others can also deepen your understanding and strengthen your faith.”

The New Testament Study Guide is the second in a two-part series, complementing the Old Testament Study Guide released earlier. Together, they provide a full exploration of Scripture, suitable for individuals, families, or small groups.

Alongside her study guides, Betty Johansen has written The Bible In Brief, a concise retelling of Scripture, and several works of faith-inspired fiction, including ‘Lilli’s Song,’ ‘Hawaiian Wildfire,’ ‘The Darkness Under His Feet,’ and ‘Out of Darkness.’
