About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

BTR Unveils Next-Gen Solid-State Battery Materials at AABC Europe 2025

-- As the global shift toward electric mobility accelerates, BTR New Material Group showcased at the 15th Advanced Automotive Battery Conference (AABC) Europe to present its cutting-edge materials roadmap for next-generation batteries.

Dr. Ying Zhan, Managing Director of BTR New Material Europe GmbH, delivered a keynote presentation in the “xEV Battery Technology and Market” track, introducing BTR SAFE, the company’s comprehensive material solutions designed for solid and semi-solid-state battery systems. The suite includes the FLEX and GUARD material series, which are designed to improve energy density, safety, and performance for EV, 3C, robot, UAM, ESS, and other AI future applications.

BTR SAFE integrates the three core components of a solid-state battery— cathode, anode, and  electrolyte—providing a one-stop solution to meet the evolving demands of electrification. With features like ultra-low resistance design, high-capacity silicon composites, and high ionic conductivity electrolytes, the solution addresses key challenges such as long driving range, fast charging, and thermal safety.

AABC Europe 2025 brought together global battery leaders and OEMs, including BMW, Volkswagen, Renault, GM, and Ferrari, to explore commercialization pathways for advanced battery technologies. BTR’s presentation drew significant interest from attendees, particularly in its global manufacturing capacity and commercialization progress in solid-state materials.

At the event, BTR also highlighted its internationalization strategy. The company has begun mass production at its Indonesian plant with an annual capacity of 80,000 tons of anode material. In addition, a 60,000-ton anode and 50,000-ton cathode production project is planned in Morocco, underscoring BTR’s commitment to ensuring a stable and scalable supply for its global partners.

As Europe doubles down on its EV transition through stricter emissions targets and EV incentives, BTR’s integrated solid-state material system offers a timely and strategic response to battery bottlenecks. With a global presence and robust R&D, BTR is helping redefine the future of clean mobility.
