About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Eastern Guinea Clean Water Access: Well Construction Charity Initiative Launched

Synergy Heals and Griot Water announce a new 2025 initiative to build wells in Eastern Guinea, where only three currently operate. The project aims to save 1,000 children annually and provide clean water to two million people in the Kankan region.

-- Synergy Heals and functional beverage brand Griot Water have announced a charitable program to bring clean water to Eastern Guinea, with implementation set to begin in 2025 and conclude by 2040. The initiative will involve the construction of new wells throughout the region, addressing a severe shortage where as few as three wells currently operate continuously.

For more information, visit https://www.synergyheals.org/

The program focuses on the Kankan/Djoma region, where limited water access affects thousands of residents daily. Synergy Heals reports the project could prevent over 1,000 child deaths annually among children under five in the Kankan region. Local medical facilities currently operate without reliable clean water, affecting their ability to maintain sterile conditions for even routine procedures.

Water scarcity in Eastern Guinea currently forces women to travel long distances for water collection. Many begin their day at 4 AM, walking miles to wait in line for filling 20-liter containers, often missing educational opportunities as a result. Many communities rely on contaminated rivers that frequently dry up seasonally, further compromising water security.

To ease this crisis, Griot Water will contribute a portion of their sales revenue to fund the initiative, while Synergy Heals will manage fund allocation and coordinate field operations. The plan includes installing water purification systems and constructing wells to provide consistent access to safe drinking water throughout the region.

Anthony Brown, Founder and Chairman of Synergy Heals, started the project after learning about conditions in Eastern Guinea through his brother-in-law's firsthand accounts. The organization aims to supply two million residents in the Kankan region with six gallons of water daily per person, meeting UNICEF recommendations for drinking, hygiene, cooking, and livestock needs.

The initiative also includes educational components focused on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention to maximize the health benefits of improved water access. These workshops aim to equip families with knowledge to maintain health improvements gained through clean water access.

Bellingham, Washington-based Synergy Heals specializes in water purification system installation, well construction, and community education programs in underserved areas. The organization's approach combines immediate water access solutions with long-term strategies for sustainable water management and ecosystem health.

The partnership between Synergy Heals and Griot Water represents a collaborative effort to address one of the most pressing health challenges in Eastern Guinea. By focusing on infrastructure development and community education, the program aims to create lasting improvements in water access and public health.
