About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Local Business Hosts Waterproofing Giveaway for Veterans

Dry Otter Waterproofing has opened nominations ahead of the November celebration.

-- Dry Otter Waterproofing has announced the launch of its Veterans Foundation Waterproofing Giveaway, a community-driven initiative honoring those who have served our country. The program will provide a deserving veteran with a free crawl space or basement waterproofing system, installed the week before Veterans Day this November.

Locals Encouraged to Submit Nominations Now

Nominations are open now, and community members are encouraged to submit the name and story of a veteran they feel is deserving of this gift. The winner will be selected by a committee featuring representatives from local nonprofit organizations that help veterans, alongside members of the Dry Otter team.

“The Foundation Waterproofing Giveaway is our small way of giving back to a group that deserves so much more,” said Kevin Sanders, Owner of Dry Otter Waterproofing.

The giveaway will officially kick-off at Dry Otter’s Fall Into Networking event on September 29th, where five local Chambers of Commerce will come together to celebrate community and collaboration with Fall themed activities and snacks, and live music.

Community members can visit the Veterans Giveaway Page to submit nominations through October 19th. The selected veteran will be announced by October 27th, with installation scheduled the week before Veterans Day.

Dry Otter Waterproofing is a locally owned and operated company based in Denver, NC. Specializing in crawl space and basement waterproofing and foundation repair, Dry Otter is committed to preserving the foundations upon which customers, employees, and the community build their lives.

The crawl space and basement waterproofing specialist serves customers across the Tar Heel State and subsequently welcomes nominations for candidates based in Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Hickory, Kannapolis, Matthews, Mooresville, Rock Hill, Shelby, Statesville, Waxhaw, and Winston-Salem.

Once the winner has been announced, they will be entitled to receive a comprehensive and complimentary waterproofing service for their crawl space or basement. Dry Otter Waterproofing’s highly experienced installation experts will also help the winner select the most appropriate method for their home. This may include eliminating standing water, reducing moisture with a vapor barrier, utilizing an encapsulation system, or eliminating hydrostatic pressure.

Dry Otter Waterproofing’s waterproofing giveaway for veterans is additionally open to homeowners with all types of basements ranging from full basements and partial basements to below-grade basements, walk-up basements, and walk-out basements in finished or unfinished conditions but does not include basement refinishing.

Nominations can be made on behalf of Honorably Discharged Veterans from any branch of the United States Military as well as widows of service members who own a home and have a verifiable waterproofing need for either repairs or preventative care.

Dry Otter Waterproofing’s selection committee will judge nominations between October 20-24, 2025 before notifying the winner and arranging their free waterproofing services on October 27, 2025.
