About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Mangroves play an extremely important role in maintaining biodiversity, mitigating and adapting to climate change, disaster prevention and mitigation, and achieving sustainable development. Currently, the situation of global mangrove conservation remains severe, and international collaborative actions are crucial for strengthening mangrove conservation. China will take the International Mangrove Center as a platform and shoulder the mission of contributing Chinese strength and promoting global joint actions for mangrove conservation.

China is an important participant, contributor, and leader in global ecological civilization construction, and has achieved remarkable results in mangrove conservation. Since the beginning of this century, the area of mangroves in China has increased by nearly 38%, making it one of the few countries in the world with a net increase in mangrove area. From Xiamen Yundang Lake to Shenzhen Futian, from Zhanjiang Jinniudao to Beihai Jinhai Bay and Haikou Dongzhaigang, various regions have explored conservation models based on local conditions, contributing successful Chinese solutions for mangrove conservation to the world. Over the past two years, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and Shenzhen City have continuously deepened their understanding and respect for this precious natural resource, and have been fully committed to advancing the construction tasks of the International Mangrove Center with a strong sense of political responsibility and mission. They have jointly held high-level forums, international symposiums, training courses, and conducted mutual visits and exchanges, comprehensively strengthening international cooperation, building consensus, and seeking wide recognition and support.

In May and July 2023, the International Symposium on Mangrove Conservation Cooperation and the International High-level Forum on Mangrove Conservation were successively held in Shenzhen, with representatives from 32 and 29 countries respectively participating. The participating countries and China reached a preliminary consensus on the construction of the International Mangrove Center, established a support and liaison mechanism, and formed a "Friends of the International Mangrove Center" group, consisting of 27 countries, and adopted the "Joint Declaration" in support of the construction of the International Mangrove Center. In July and November 2024, two international training courses on mangrove conservation and restoration were held in Shenzhen, with 20 and 15 countries respectively participating, promoting the exchange and sharing of knowledge and cases on mangrove conservation and restoration. In October 2024, Shenzhen sent two delegations to visit and exchange in Madagascar, Mozambique, Cambodia, and Thailand, discussing the signing of the establishment agreement and promoting the implementation of international cooperation projects. During the visits, the International Mangrove Center signed the "Cooperation Agreement on Mangrove Protection and Restoration Capacity Building Project" with relevant departments in Madagascar and Cambodia respectively, officially launching the first batch of international cooperation and exchange pilot projects.
