About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Meet Tuppence, the Latest Typeface From Delve Fonts

Cultural legacy meets contemporary design.

A sample of the typeface Tuppence by Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich, published by Delve Fonts

ALAMEDA, Calif. - September 1, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Delve Fonts LLC announced Wednesday the immediate availability of the new typeface Tuppence™ by the award-winning designer and author Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich. Variable versions, desktop, webfonts, and mobile app font licenses can be purchased at the company's website at https://delvefonts.com/fonts/tuppence

Inspired by the London foundry Stephenson Blake typeface Blackfriars, designer extraordinaire Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich reimagined this quirky gem for today. de Vicq brought a more graceful appearance to the design and explored its reversed contrast nature with new weights while still retaining the warmth and character of its English primogenitor of the Victorian era. The proportions of the lowercase are decidedly wider and more geometric overall and the italics are imbued with more calligraphic flare. Tuppence includes a marvelous selection of catch words, swash capitals, ligatures, arrows, and over a hundred beautiful ornaments and symbols. Picture Tuppence used on beverage labels, greeting cards, posters, restaurant logos, and in other display mediums.

Delve Withrington, founder of Delve Fonts said: "Roberto skillfully reinterpreted a legacy design to resonate with what today's designers want and expect from a font."

This initial release of Tuppence has a complement of over 960 glyphs, supporting 224 languages including Vietnamese. Tuppence is a twelve font family featuring six weights ranging from ExtraLight to Bold and six italic counterparts. The Variable Font version of Tuppence leverages the new format to include all 12 styles and the option to use any custom instance (variations) between those 12 styles.

Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich is currently principal at his own design firm in San Francisco, CA, specializing in publications, restaurant design and branding. de Vicq speaks frequently on typography and design and is the author of several books featuring his own work. He has received numerous awards from the Art Directors Club, AIGA, Communication Arts, D&AD,  Eye, Graphis, How, Print, TDC and two Webby Awards. He was Vice President at the Type Directors Club, chairman of the 2015 TDC Type competition and a speaker at the 2015 Brand New Conference.
