About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Deputy Appoints Silvija Martincevic as CEO to Further Advance Global Scale

Deputy, a global leader in smart scheduling and workforce management for shift workers and businesses, today announced the appointment of Silvija Martincevic as Chief Executive Officer and member of Deputy's Board of Directors. A seasoned technology executive with over 20 years of global leadership experience, Martincevic will succeed Ashik Ahmed, Co-founder and former CEO of Deputy.

"When Steve Shelley and I co-founded Deputy 14 years ago, we had an idea and some very big dreams," said Ahmed. "We nurtured those ambitions into a reality far beyond our wildest dreams and it has been my absolute honour and privilege to have led Deputy to this point. Today, in over 100 countries, more than 330,000 workplaces and 1.3 million shift workers use Deputy daily. Our global impact story is just beginning. I'm delighted to welcome Silvija as our next CEO - she is uniquely positioned to execute the massive goals we have set for ourselves globally."

Before Deputy, Martincevic served as Chief Commercial Officer at Affirm Inc., a fintech company based in San Francisco, where she grew the company's merchant and partner portfolio from approximately 5,000 to more than 200,000 retailers and brands representing nearly 60% of U.S. e-commerce. Prior to Affirm, Martincevic led Groupon's international business across Europe, Asia, and Australia as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. Martincevic also spent 10 years in the investment management industry, as a founder and investor in socially-responsible, female and minority-owned businesses. Martincevic currently sits on the boards of Lemonade and Kiva.org.

"Deputy has earned a global reputation for product innovation in simplifying shift work. With its global footprint, 14 years of deep knowledge and accumulated workforce data, and a mission-driven approach, Deputy is best positioned to build a bright future for the world's 2.7 billion shift workers - two-thirds of the world's working population," said Martincevic. "Brands like Ace Hardware, Everlane, Five Guys, LaserAway, and Trek Bikes utilize Deputy to communicate with, schedule, and create a more flexible and transparent workplace for their employees. I am proud to be Deputy's new CEO, and I'm excited to work with our passionate team to improve the lives of millions of hourly workers and bring thriving workplaces to every community."

"It's rare to find a leader with proven experience of scaling high-growth startups into billion-dollar brands, who has genuine empathy for the customer and a deep understanding of their many challenges, and who is devoted to fostering a cohesive, mission-oriented workplace culture," said Steve Shelley, Chairman of the Board and Co-founder of Deputy. "After an extensive global search, we are beyond thrilled to have Silvija join as CEO and believe she is the best possible person to lead Deputy into our next chapter and beyond."

With Martincevic leading the company as CEO, Ahmed will continue to play an active role as a member of Deputy's Board of Directors.

"I'm excited for my new role on the board and this next chapter under Silvija's leadership," said Ahmed. "Silvija's visionary thinking and track record of scaling user, partner, and revenue growth will bring us even closer to achieving our ambition of creating thriving workplaces in every community."
