About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Gold Coast Plastic Surgeon Discusses Mummy Makeover Benefits, Candidates, and More

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia - 11-01-2022 (PR Distribution™) -

Dr Craig Layt of The Layt Clinic in Southport and Ballina explains how a Mummy Makeover can provide comprehensive aesthetic rejuvenation for women looking to restore their pre-pregnancy bodies.

Gold Coast, QLD – While giving birth and the joys of motherhood can be among life’s greatest gifts, many women find that the physical changes to their bodies post-pregnancy can be difficult to correct with traditional diet and exercise routines. According to Dr Craig Layt, a Gold Coast plastic surgeon and the head of The Layt Clinic, this is largely due to the fact that pregnancy and the natural aging process can produce aesthetic effects that are simply not reversible without surgical intervention. These effects include the stretching and tearing of abdominal muscles, collections of loose, inelastic skin and excess fat in localised areas of the body, and other concerns. Fortunately, Dr. Layt says, for women who are considering options to restore their pre-pregnancy figures, a procedure commonly referred to as a “Mummy Makeover” can address many of the changes that result after pregnancy and years of raising children, ultimately helping patients to renew their body contours and overall appearance.

Dr Layt explains that a Mummy Makeover offers numerous aesthetic benefits, particularly for areas of the body that are most directly affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding. A Mummy Makeover is a customised procedure that includes a combination of cosmetic treatments selected by the patient. Options can include a breast lift to address inelastic skin and a “sagging” breast appearance; breast augmentation to enhance breast volume and shape; tummy tuck surgery to tighten and repair abdominal muscles and provide the abdomen with a firmer, flatter look; liposuction to remove isolated pockets of excess fat; labiaplasty to address elongated labial tissues that may be causing both aesthetic and physical discomfort; and other body contouring procedures. Additionally, surgical or non-surgical facial rejuvenation options can be included in a Mummy Makeover for patients who would like to enhance their skin for a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Dr Layt says the precise number of options and the specific treatments involved in a Mummy Makeover ultimately depend on each patient’s aesthetic needs and wishes. During an initial consultation, Dr Layt evaluates those needs and determines the ideal treatment recommendations. Candidates for a Mummy Makeover are typically women who are in good general health, are not planning to have more children in the future, and are considering treatment for multiple aesthetic concerns.

Since a Mummy Makeover usually involves a minimum of two treatments performed in a single operation, Dr Layt notes that some patients may require a brief stay in hospital. He also says that patients should plan on a recovery period that lasts at least a few weeks, depending on the type and number of treatments included in the Mummy Makeover. With that in mind, Dr Layt reveals that the comprehensive nature of a Mummy Makeover allows many women to achieve significant aesthetic results that can last long into the future—from improvement in the “love handles” areas to more youthful-looking breasts and an enhanced abdominal contour.

With a Mummy Makeover, Dr Layt says many women can successfully reverse some of the aesthetic concerns commonly caused by pregnancy and raising children to enhance their appearance and feel great about the way they look. He cautions women who are considering these procedures to be sure to see a qualified, extensively experienced plastic surgeon to talk about their goals and find out whether a Mummy Makeover is right for their needs.
