About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Tonya Harris, Speaker, Author, Environmental Toxicity Specialist, Children’s Mental Health Advocate, and Founder of Slightly Greener, was recently chosen by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) as their Top Inspirational Health Advocate of the Year for 2022.

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor, and only 10 members are selected for this distinction. Tonya Harris is being recognized for her exemplary efforts and genuine dedication to inspire and empower professionals all over the world, while enhancing society through her service. Tonya has over a decade of professional experience in Holistic Nutrition and more than two decades of experience educating the public on products and toxins that affect their health and well-being. She will receive this distinction at IAOTP’s 2022 Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas this December. www.iaotp.com/award-gala

As a childhood leukemia survivor and mother of three, Tonya’s experience in the environmental health field led her to provide knowledge to families about toxins in the home and how they affect their child’s health. She is an esteemed Environmental Toxicity Specialist and the founder of Slightly Greener, helping families detoxify their homes by making small changes that have big impact over time.  She is also the author of the best-selling book The Slightly Greener Method: Detoxifying Your Home is Easier, Faster, and Less Expensive Than You Think, and has on tv shows across the country for her expertise in environmental toxins.

Her impressive repertoire of prior roles has included: Owner of Naturally Boutique: which was an online store carrying chemical-free, natural and organic products. Tonya was a Publication Editor for the National Association of Nutrition Professionals and is the creator of Slightly Greener. Her key areas of expertise are environmental toxins, effects of toxins on children, childhood cancer awareness, and de-stigmatizing learning disabilities and mental health challenges in children.

Tonya earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University and her Master of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She also is board certified and holds multiple certificates in the environmental health field.

In addition to her successful career, Tonya is a sought-after public speaker and Children’s Mental Health Advocate.  She was a featured Speaker on Speakers Who Dare where she and her daughter discuss her daughter’s personal experience of being bullied in school. Their story was so moving that it was made into a short film documentary which got worldwide recognition and Tonya and her daughter traveled across the country to be interviewed on news stations across America.  Tonya is also a published author of Henry the Flying Squirrel, where her mission includes showing children that it is possible to overlook their label whether it is a learning disability, behavior issue or diagnosis, and to recognize their strengths. She is also a big believer in paying it forward.  She was listed as one of the “Top 15 Most Charitable Women” and founded Clubs to Cure Kids, a foundation to support childhood cancer research at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where she was treated for childhood leukemia, and Make-a-Wish Illinois.

Ms. Harris has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding commitment and genuine concern for the health of others. This year she will be considered for an exclusive interview on TIP Radio. At IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala this December, Tonya will receive her award from 2021 as their Top Environmental Specialist of the Decade and she will receive the Empowered Woman of the Year award from 2020. The International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) featured Tonya on the cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine, and she was selected as IAOTP’s Top Environmental Toxicity Specialist of the Year back in 2019.
