MARK RIVERA SELECTED FOR IAOTP’S LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD & WILL BE INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME

Mark Rivera is an American saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, musician, singer, musical director and corporate entertainer. He was just recently selected for IAOTP’s Lifetime Achievement Award and will be inducted into IAOTP’s Hall of Fame given by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

Mr. Rivera is being recognized for this honor for dedicating close to 50 years of his professional career to the Music and Entertainment Industry and of course for his Saxophone. Mr. Rivera’s brilliance and musical albitites encompass most notably, his saxophone, vocals, guitar, bass, flute, percussion and keyboards.

His phenomenal near 50-year career began with his first national exposure with the band Tycoon in the mid 1970’s. Thanks to his meeting with legendary producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, Mr. Rivera furthered his ventures and became part of an association with Mick Jones and Lou Gramm of Foreigner. From this point Mr. Rivera was introduced to the “big leagues” of rock music, recording and performing.

Mark Rivera is most known for his work as Billy Joel’s saxophonist since 1982. Some of the most famous names Mr. Rivera has had the honor of working alongside include John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Simon and Garfunkel, Hall and Oates, Peter Gabriel and many more. In 1995, Mark Rivera joined Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band and immediately became his musical Director. A position he holds and is proud of to this day.

Furthermore, in 2014 Mark released his first solo album, Common Bond which includes appearances by Billy Joel, Ringo Starr, Nils Lofgren and Steve Lukather. His song Money, Money, Money was a finalist for 2014’s Coolest Song in the World on Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

In addition to his successful career, The Mark Rivera Entertainment Group has produced events for HBO, IBM, Bank of America, AT&T, Coldwell Banker, Northwest Airlines, and numerous trade associations, charitable events and local and national educational groups. His career has grown, and his company has developed along with his industry knowledge for promoting and producing corporate entertainment and events.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Rivera has received numerous awards and accolades. He has been recognized worldwide for his extraordinary talent in music and entertainment. In 2021 he was selected as Top Musician and Entertainer of the Year. This year, his memoir Sideman: In Pursuit of the Next Gig, was just released and has already become a best-seller. He graced the front cover of TIP Magazine. He will be given the Lifetime Achievement award and will be inducted into IAOTP’s hall of fame at their annual awards gala being held at the Plaza Hotel this December. He had a chapter dedicated to him in IAOTP’s international best-selling publication Top 50 Fearless Leaders Vol 1 and Vol 2. He was featured on the famous Reuters Billboard in Times Square, NYC, and will be featured on the famous Nasdaq Billboard April 14th. Mark was also honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards gala at the Plaza Hotel for his selection as Top Musician & Entertainer of the Year and was the special entertainment to close out the night.

As a person who has always known the importance of paying it forward, Mr. Rivera has been active in his community and is a philanthropist with many charities and organizations. For the past 7 years he has been active with the Summit Speech School and Blythe Children’s Hospital.

Looking back, Mr. Rivera attributes his success to his perseverance, natural talent and love of all things musical and his resilience and integrity. When not working he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
