Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Sweden Reports SEK6.6 Billion in Q1 Gambling Revenue

In the first quarter of 2023, authorized gaming businesses in Sweden made a total of SEK 6.6 billion (€569 million). This is verified in a recent report by Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen.

Essentially, this number shows how much money people have bet, minus how much they have won. What’s interesting is that this rough estimate is right in line with the turnover figures from the same time last year, suggesting a steady upward tendency.

Revenue Breakdown

We will talk about how the revenue is split between two groups: licensed enterprises, like online casinos, and other retail betting businesses.

Licensed Operators

When looking at the sources of the total SEK 6.6 billion in income, online casino gaming was shown to be the main driver. They made a whopping SEK 4.1 billion in profit. This sector’s growth has slowed since the first quarter of 2022, although it is still the market leader.

Revenue from state lotteries and slot machines increased as well, reaching SEK 1.36 billion, up from SEK 1.29 billion the year before. Also, state casino gaming, by Casino Cosmopol, went up by 22%. That means it made 126 million SEK in revenue in the first quarter of 2023.

Other Retail Gaming Establishments

In addition to licensed operators, additional retail gaming venues such as resort casinos contributed a meager 27 million SEK. There were 812 million SEK in public-purpose gaming, which includes many projects that help the public, whereas community gaming and bingo brought in a total of 38 million SEK.

An Important Aspect of the Swedish Gaming Landscape

The Spelpaus.se exclusion platform is an important part of the Swedish gambling business. By the end of the first quarter of 2023, around 92,000 people had been banned from using gaming platforms.

This number is 8% higher than it was in the previous quarter. Self-exclusion is becoming more popular, which shows that people are taking steps to deal with problems linked to gaming. Which, in turn, encourages people in Sweden to play games in a sensible way.

Summary of Q1-2023 of the Swedish Gaming Industry

During the first three months of 2023, the Swedish gaming industry was stable and grew steadily. This is a sign of a strong and well-regulated market. Even though online casino gaming still brings in the most money, other areas, such as the state lottery and slot machine games, have also been doing well. It’s also important to note that state casinos like Casino Cosmopol are still doing well. This is compelling evidence that the trend of betting in person is growing.

As the Swedish gaming industry grows, it will be important to find a balance between meeting customer needs and taking steps to avoid and deal with problems that could arise from too much gaming. By keeping a focus on responsible gambling and adjusting to changes in the market, the industry can keep growing while making sure that everyone can play in a safe and fun setting.

Lastly, sites like spelbolagutansvensklicens.co might be good places to start if you want to start playing games on Swedish platforms. It will give you the most recent information about the best choice for you.
