Ronald S. Kowalik, OD is a retired optometrist living in Bergen County New Jersey with his wife, Helen.

He has three grandchildren, Luke, Max, and Sylvia, the source and inspiration for this book.

He started off with The Little Locomotive, who believed in himself; The Little Cupcake, though little brought forth a big smile; The Little Airplane, proud to do something important; The Little Sub, a survivor of a humorous encounter with a sea monster; The Little Wave, glad to be enjoyed; The Little Dog, happy to find a good home in such an unusual way; and, The Little Unicorn, who shows a little kid about the unknown.
