About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Royal Oak, MI Author Publishes Adventure Novel

By: PR Leap
(PRLeap.com) "Adventures of The Watchers: Volume 2", a new book by Jay Aye, has been released by RoseDog Books.

Inspired by a childhood spent where factories met farmland, author Jay Aye brings a vividly imagined world to life in his new series, The Watchers.

"The Watchers Series" springs from the formative years of author Jay Aye, born John (Jack) Austermann Jr., who grew up just blocks from a bustling industrial city center, yet still firmly rooted in a rural way of life. In this rare blend of urban and agricultural landscapes, adventure was never far away. Nearby truck and auto factories loomed beside open fields, while a river ran quietly nearby, serving as a secret escape route for young imaginations eager to explore the world beyond.

Drawing deeply from his love of classic adventure literature, fostered by his mother's endless supply of the world's greatest stories, Jay Aye has created The Watchers' World as a reflection of that rich, curious, and wonder-filled youth. Saturdays, once filled with mischief, imagination, and endless possibility, echo through the pages of his books, bringing to life a time when community spirit and childlike curiosity ruled the day.

"The Watchers Series" invites readers of all ages to step into a world both fantastical and familiar, where realism and wonder go hand-in-hand, and every corner holds the promise of discovery.

About the Author
Jay Aye is the pen name of John (Jack) Austermann Jr., whose storytelling is deeply influenced by a life of diverse and meaningful experiences. Raised in an agricultural community and shaped by two farmer grandfathers, his summers were spent working the land during the waning days of World War II.

He later joined the automobile industry, working on assembly lines before serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Following his military service, he built a successful 40-year career as an Automotive Design Engineer.

After retiring, Austermann settled in South Carolina, where he spent 27 years embracing Southern life, including two decades of bi-weekly hikes through the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. It was during retirement that he returned to a lifelong dream: writing. Many of his early stories were created for neighborhood children, evolving into the deeply thoughtful and imaginative narratives that now define The Watchers Series.

For readers of all ages, Jay Aye's work offers not just escapism but also insight, wonder, and the enduring spirit of adventure.

"Adventures of The Watchers: Volume 2" is a 116-page paperback with a retail price of $15.00 (eBook $10.00). The ISBN is 979-8-89499-430-7. Published by RoseDog Books of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
