About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Avery Burton Foundation's Hike and Heal Event November 23 Focuses Awareness on Mental Health

By: PRLog

HENDERSON, Nev. - Oct. 29, 2024 - PRLog -- The 4th Annual Hike & Heal Event, in support of raising awareness with teens, adults and families coping with mental health issues, is taking place Saturday, November 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Boulder City, NV. The event is free, and anyone who would enjoy an easy hike is invited to participate.

Participants will meet at the Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino Trailhead and hike the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail through picturesque desert terrain and the actual tunnels that accommodated large equipment used to build Hoover Dam. Water and box lunches will be provided.

This year's sponsors include: Gold Sponsor Lexicon Bank; Arana Software, a Henderson software consulting agency that provides a mindful blend of business and marketing through the effective creation of software; and RB Group Public Relations and social media marketing consultancy, also based in Henderson.

Sponsorship opportunities and individual or group participation are still available. For more information, email info@averyburtonfoundation.org or call/text 702-604-4283.

"The Foundation's mission is to raise awareness with teens, adults and families coping with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and trauma," Christina Aldan, Board Member of the Avery Burton Foundation, said. "Our annual Hike and Heal Event is a wonderful way to bring people together for a fun adventure where everyone can enjoy the outdoors, make new friends or share time with existing friends and family, while raising awareness and support for addressing the nation's mental health crisis."

The Avery Burton Foundation (ABF) offers programs in Mental Health First Aid Training and focuses on destigmatizing the conversation around mental health through outreach and educational resources for students and families. This is done, in part, with impactful storytelling via the ABF Resiliency Project and by providing Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) tips.

The goal of the ABF Resiliency Project is to ensure students have their voices heard and to inspire hope for others struggling with mental health issues. The Project debuted with original online content of local Southern Nevada high school senior student scholarship essays. These powerful and poignant stories revealed the adversity teens faced during a pandemic year filled with distance learning isolation, missed sporting events, self-care tips and more.

The Foundation (ABF), a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, is named after Avery Burton, a graduate of Foothill High School and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He died from suicide in 2017 after a major depressive episode.

Additionally, ABF provides annual scholarships for graduating high school students through the Avery Burton Excellence in Academics and Sports Scholarship.
