About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

A Free, Family-Friendly Scavenger Hunt Inspired by the Canada Strong Pass Launches August 1st

By: PRLog
Just in time for the long weekend, Goosechase is launching "Honk if You Love Canada", a free, public scavenger hunt.

TORONTO - July 31, 2025 - PRLog -- This August, Canada's getting a little more curious—and a lot more playful. Goosechase, the Canadian interactive experience platform behind over one million global games, is inviting folks across the country to join Honk if You Love Canada (stylized Honk if You ❤️ Canada), a coast-to-coast scavenger hunt celebrating all things Canadian: the culture, creatures, and community spirit.

What is it? From August 1 to September 2, Canadians (and visitors!) can take part in over 230 photo, video, and GPS-based challenges—called Missions (available in both English and French)—on the free Goosechase app, designed to spark curiosity about iconic landmarks and quirky local gems. Think of it as an interactive itinerary to help folks finish the summer strong.

What's at stake? Top scorers can win sweet prizes from Canadian brands like RW&CO., Knix, and Baffin.

Why now? The Canada Strong Pass, which launched in June, is making VIA Rail fares and access to national parks and attractions more accessible with discounted or waived fees. As of the end of June, more than 700,000 people had visited the official Canada Strong Pass website. Canadians are also increasingly choosing local travel this summer, with Airbnb reporting nearly 20% YoY growth in domestic searches. With rising costs and a desire for accessible vacations, Honk if You Love Canada taps into that movement with playful Missions that highlight culture, nature, and community building.

"No matter where people travel, the underscoring 'why' is always shared connection: to places, people, and ideas," said Andrew Cross, Founder and CEO of Goosechase. "Connecting people through fun, educational experiences is exactly what Goosechase does best, and being a Canadian company, this felt like the perfect time to spring to action."

Inspired by the Canada Strong Pass! While inspired by the Canada Strong Pass, this interactive experience was independently created by Goosechase to help guide locals and visitors across the country. The Experience is unaffiliated with the Canada Strong Pass or the Government of Canada, though some participating destinations contributed Missions.

Sample Missions Include:
  • Lake Legend (BC): Name the mythical creature said to live in Okanagan Lake. One word, endless folklore…
  • I Sea Friends (NB): New Brunswick is known for its thriving seafood industry. Share a photo of the most unique marine life memorabilia you come across.
  • Tower of Hope (MB): The Canadian Museum for Human Rights features a stunning glass spire called the Tower of Hope. Create your own version of this architectural marvel using household items, blocks, or a drawing.
  • Remote Work at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum (ON): The Canadarm helped astronauts work in space without ever leaving the shuttle. Strike your best robot-arm pose in front of this Canadian engineering marvel!
How to Join:
  • Download the free Goosechase app
  • Join with code HONKCANADA25
  • Play anytime between August 1 – September 2
  • Complete Missions to earn points and win prizes!
