About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

New memorial scholarships for writers battling or recovering from a serious illness introduced along with a new Teen Writing program and vendor opportunities. The conference will be held Sept. 26 and 27, 2025 in San Luis Obispo, California.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Aug. 22, 2025 - PRLog -- The 41st Annual Cuesta College Central Coast Writers' Conference (CCWC) returns on Sept. 26-27 with workshops, keynote speakers, and a new teen program. The 2025 theme, "It's Time!" aims to inspire writers of all experience levels.

Thanks to generous sponsors, the conference is offering new scholarship opportunities and writing contests to cover registration fees, including one for individuals experiencing or recovering from serious illness.

Anna Unkovich, Paul Alan Fahey, and Linna Thomas Memorial Scholarships: These scholarships support individuals battling or recovering from illness who embody resilience and a love for the written word. To apply, submit a story or poem of 800 words or less using the prompt: "It's Time!" Six scholarships will be awarded based on need and authentic voice. The application deadline is Sept. 10. Details are available at centralcoastwritersconference.com.

Teen Writing Program "Dream It, Draw It, Draft It": This program takes place Friday, Sept. 26 from 3-6 p.m. Teens will learn writing fundamentals through storytelling, illustration, and writing time. They will be mentored by award-winning author Laurie Woodward and special guest illustrator Stephanie Roth Sisson. Students can return Saturday for more than 30 workshops. The cost is $75 and includes pizza and snacks. Register your teen at CCWC Teen Program. Limited scholarships are available.

"Offering scholarships helps to open doors for talented individuals who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend," said CCWC Director Meagan Friberg. "Our goal is to nurture fresh perspectives, foster inclusivity, and ensure the brightest ideas are heard, no matter someone's financial background. This year, we are especially honored to extend support to those who are battling or recovering from illness while recognizing the strength, resilience, and insight they bring to our community."

Scholarships and programs are made possible by Cuesta Community College and CCWC 2025 sponsors: Kindle Direct Publishing, Rotary Passport Club of the Central Coast, Visit Morro Bay, SoCreate, SLO NightWriters, Chevron, Launch My Book, and the Salamacha Family Trust.

Vendor booths for writer-centric products, organizations and services are available for $200. Apply at CCWC Vendors by Sept. 5.
