About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Climb, Chill, and Get Silly: The First Annual Joe’s Valley Pump-a-thon: A Bouldering Bonanza Meets Beach Party

Get Ready to Rock at the First Annual Joe’s Valley Pump-a-thon: Climbing, Costumes, Community, and Conservation

(PRUnderground) May 12th, 2025

Sandstone boulders. Ridiculous costumes. Goofy challenges. Community vibes. The first-ever Joe’s Valley Pump-A-Thon is coming in hot on May 17–18, and it’s the ultimate excuse to grab your friends, throw on your cheesiest beach outfit, and climb until your arms (and cheeks) hurt—from effort and laughter.

Part low-key climbing challenge, part beach-themed hangout, part trail love fest—the Pump-a-thon is not your average bouldering comp. It’s a joyful, two-day celebration of the quirky, welcoming spirit that makes Joe’s Valley a beloved destination for climbers from around the world.

“This event is about more than just climbing,” says Adriana Chimaras, co-founder and board member of Joe’s Valley Fest. “It’s about connecting with your friends and community, being silly on the sandstone, and giving back to a place we all love. We want people to show up as they are; ready to play, not just perform.”

Here’s the Vibe:

Saturday, May 17 – Let’s Get Pumped

  • Rock up to the New Joe’s Campground late morning and get ready to roam.
  • Team up with your friends to see how many different problems you can try (no repeats!).
  • Costumes are highly encouraged—think flamingo floaties, neon shades, and beach towels for capes.
  • Download the Kaya app for free guidebook access and scorekeeping (but honestly, just focus on the fun).
  • Stick around for food trucks, raffle prizes, a bonfire, and music in Castle Dale.

Sunday, May 18 – Give the Valley Some Love

  • Start the day with free coffee and donuts (the climber’s breakfast of champions).
  • Join in a Trail Stewardship Day to keep Joe’s beautiful.
  • We’ll provide the tools. Just bring your good vibes and maybe a pair of gloves.

It’s for Everyone

Whether you’re a total beginner or a lifetime local, the Pump-A-Thon welcomes you. Categories are based on vibes, not just grades—everyone gets a shot at silly glory. And while we technically track scores (for fun + prizes!), this is really about:

  • Climbing with friends
  • Trying hard, laughing harder
  • Wearing outfits that shouldn’t make it up a V0
  • Creating joyful chaos with your community
  • The best part? All net proceeds go to benefit the work that the Joe’s Valley organization does, including local youth climbing camps and stewardship initiatives to protect this one-of-a-kind bouldering destination.

What You Get with Registration:

  • Entry to the climbing event
  • Guidebook access via Kaya
  • One raffle ticket (plus bonus tickets for sending 15+ problems)
  • Free swag + stickers
  • Coffee + donuts on Sunday
  • A chance to win fun prizes + costume kudos
  • Good times guaranteed!
