About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Arches Natural Products, Inc. Lauds Tinnitus Research Linking Biomarkers to Symptom Severity

An online tinnitus supplement retailer highlights the potential for developing tinnitus treatment possibilities, brought about by a study identifying biomarkers indicative of tinnitus symptom severity.

(PRUnderground) May 13th, 2025

For over 25 years, Arches Natural Products, Inc. has been a leading provider of natural supplements for tinnitus sufferers. Their proprietary formulation includes a high potency form of Gingko biloba known as GinkgoMax 26/7®, which is found in their flagship product, Arches Tinnitus Formula®. While it has been instrumental in helping many individuals in their fight to overcome their tinnitus, there is still no cure for the condition.

However, researchers at Mass General Brigham have identified facial biomarkers that will aid in evaluating possible treatments by objectively measuring a person’s response to their symptoms.

Although over 25 million in the United States experience tinnitus, quantifying the severity of the condition has long been elusive. Because only the individual with tinnitus can hear the characteristic ringing, hissing, or buzzing in their ears, researchers have relied on patient reporting and surveys to determine how distressing symptoms are and whether or not they improve with treatment. Finding a reliable method to measure a patient’s reaction to their symptoms will allow researchers to evaluate the effectiveness of new and long-standing treatments, such as hearing aids and sound therapy, as well as herbal treatments like Gingko biloba for tinnitus, which has proven effective for many.

“Many of the treatments we embrace for medical conditions arise from studies that gather evidence that demonstrates they work,” remarked Brent Curtis, CEO of Arches Natural Products. “This type of research and empirical evidence is simply not available for tinnitus treatments because of the nature of the condition. Until now, we have not been able to measure improvement. By identifying biomarkers that change with symptom severity, the team at Mass General has given the tinnitus community that missing piece to allow research to move forward.”

The Mass General Brigham study analyzed the pupil dilation and facial muscle movements of individuals with tinnitus during exposure to pleasant, neutral, and unpleasant sounds. They analyzed this data, assisted by AI technology, and discovered detectable patterns. In patients with severe tinnitus, the pupils became dilated with exposure to all types of sound, indicating a state of distress. Patients with less severe tinnitus showed milder responses. Only upon exposure to unpleasant sounds did they experience pupil dilation and detectable facial reactions.

“While we still don’t have all the answers, this study puts us one step closer to determining which tinnitus treatments work,” stated Curtis. “At Arches Natural Products, we believe in providing science-based treatments and solutions. It is the basis for our line of supplements that help tinnitus.”
