About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Intermountain Health Names New CCIO and CHIO

Tamara Moores Todd, MD, will serve as chief health informatics officer for Intermountain Health with Jason McClellan as chief clinical informatics officer.

(PRUnderground) May 9th, 2025

Intermountain Health has named two new Digital Technology Services (DTS) leaders.

Tamara Moores Todd, MD, will serve as chief health informatics officer (CHIO) for the system, while Jason McClellan will serve as chief clinical informatics officer (CCIO).

Dr. Moores Todd will draw on over a decade of progressive clinical and administrative experience as Intermountain’s new CHIO.

As the Intermountain interim chief health informatics officer and associate chief health informatics officer, Dr. Moores Todd has led significant initiatives, including the deployment of advanced decision support systems and the creation of unified clinical communication ecosystems.

“Dr. Moores Todd’s innovative approach and relentless pursuit of excellence have been instrumental in our success. Her leadership will continue to drive our efforts in health informatics to new heights,” said Ryan Smith, chief digital and information officer for Intermountain Health.

In her new role, Dr. Moores Todd will lead the strategic vision and development of health informatics initiatives.

She will work closely with clinical leaders to optimize electronic health record (EHR) use and other clinical systems. She’ll also drive innovation and continuous improvement efforts across the system.

Additionally, her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in pioneering technical workflows and substantial operational cost savings.

Dr. Moores Todd holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University and is board certified in emergency medicine and clinical informatics.

“I’m honored to be named in this role and excited to unite our Intermountain teams to care for each patient as if they were family. Leading our Informatics Teams brings me unabating joy — working with wildly talented, mission-driven people to create reliable systems that enhance both caregiver and patient experiences,” said Dr. Moores Todd.

“In this next chapter, I seek to shape our systems to work better for us, helping clinicians reclaim time, reduce friction, and support care with data and technology. Informatics serves as a bridge, and I’m humbled to be part of the team building that bridge better together.”

As Intermountain’s CCIO, McClellan will partner with clinical, operational, and technology leaders to foster data-driven decision-making within our enterprise.

He has served at Intermountain Health in several roles for nearly a decade, including associate chief clinical informatics officer, informatics director of learning and communication, and nurse clinical informatics analyst.

His career highlights include playing a pivotal role in the system’s EHR implementation, improving the caregiver EHR experience, and championing innovative documentation strategies that have saved our nursing caregivers thousands of hours of time.

“Jason has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in his field,” said Smith. “His expertise and dedication will be invaluable as we continue to advance our clinical informatics initiatives.”

McClellan’s background also includes service in the U.S. Army, specializing in finance, accounting, and information systems security. He holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Western Governors University.

“While Intermountain was searching for a new chief digital and information officer last summer, I had the chance to work closely with both leaders. They are exceptional professionals and even better people,” said Dan Liljenquist, chief strategy officer for Intermountain Health. “In these new roles, Jason and Dr. Moores Todd will continue to drive significant, positive impact at Intermountain Health. We are confident that their leadership will help drive our strategic goals forward and enhance our ability to deliver high-quality care.”

Both leaders will continue to serve on the Digital Technology Services Executive Leadership Team and report directly to Intermountain’s chief digital and information officer.
