About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Program-Ace Implements Scalable 3D Geospatial Solutions with Cesium for European Urban Projects

Program-Ace has earned Cesium Certified Developer status after delivering web-based 3D digital twin solutions for Limassol and Leipzig

(PRUnderground) May 9th, 2025

Program-Ace, an innovative solutions integrator and custom software development company, has completed a web-based 3D visualization project using Cesium technology and earned official Cesium Certified Developer status. The certification verifies the company’s effective delivery of real-time interactive 3D visualizations for two European cities, Limassol and Leipzig, and shows its readiness to implement Cesium-based solutions at scale.

Program-Ace demonstrated the team’s ability to integrate landscape modeling, building-level rendering, and live data overlays into a single functioning application by creating web-based digital twins of these metropolitan regions. The models use Cesium World Terrain to reflect elevation, OSM Buildings for 3D geometry, and satellite imagery from Bing Maps to support spatial orientation.

Program-Ace integrated live data streams using APIs from OpenWeatherMap, HERE, OpenAQ, and WAQI, connecting weather, traffic, and environmental metrics directly to the visual layer. The developed solution allows stakeholders to see how environmental changes affect specific urban zones instantly.

The primary business function of the digital twin lies in its role as a centralized source of operational insight. Urban development teams, municipal departments, and infrastructure planners can use the tool to evaluate changes in traffic behavior, monitor air quality across specific timeframes, and detect high-impact areas using heatmaps or influence zones. The customer gets a functional online application that contextualizes real-time city data instead of static reports or unconnected dashboards.

The project is implemented as a browser-based application using React and CesiumJS, which allows users to run the tool without any additional installations and ensuring full compatibility with standard IT environments. For public sector organizations, government institutions, or real estate stakeholders, this translates to quicker onboarding, no proprietary software requirements, and simple internal distribution across teams.

“Becoming a Cesium Certified Developer shows that we can build functional 3D geospatial systems with measurable use cases,” said Oleg Fonarov, CEO of Program-Ace. “We designed this platform to help cities, infrastructure teams, and environmental stakeholders evaluate live data directly inside an interactive map interface.”

Program-Ace’s Cesium certification opens new prospects for businesses that require trusted development partners in the geospatial visualization space. Eligibility for tender participation, direct access to Cesium’s SDK and commercial datasets, as well as full support from the Cesium engineering team are all now available. These advantages reduce the time and cost of implementation for clients and help bring complex urban data into decision-making contexts faster.
