About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Murray Schools and Intermountain Medical Center Partner to Give 475 Pairs of Shoes to Needy Students

Intermountain Health, The Murray Education Foundation, Murray City School District, and caregivers at Intermountain Medical Center contribute to "Step for a Cause."

(PRUnderground) June 6th, 2025

A unique partnership among the Murray Education Foundation, Murray City School District, Intermountain Health, and caregivers at Intermountain Medical Center has resulted in the donation of over 475 pairs of new shoes for Murray City School District students in need for the upcoming school year.

This significant contribution stems from Intermountain Health’s “Step for a Cause” by caregivers, an initiative designed to promote internal wellness while fostering community engagement.

Throughout the month of March, Intermountain Medical Center caregivers enthusiastically participated in a campus-wide step challenge, accumulating miles to benefit a vital community cause. As part of their commitment to employee wellness and community giving, Intermountain Medical Center pledged to purchase one pair of shoes for every 50 miles caregivers reported in the month of March.

The overwhelming participation and dedication of Intermountain Medical Center caregivers led to a remarkable outcome, nearly 53,700,000 steps (roughly totaling over 26,500 miles) were turned in by hundreds of caregivers—far exceeding initial expectations.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generous spirit of Intermountain Health and their employees,” said Jennifer Covington, superintendent of Murray City School District. “This donation of over 475 pairs of shoes will make a tangible difference in the lives of our students. Having proper footwear is essential for their comfort, confidence, and ability to fully participate in school activities. This partnership truly exemplifies how community collaboration can positively impact our students.”

This initiative not only promoted physical activity and well-being among Intermountain Medical Center caregivers but also provided a meaningful opportunity to connect directly with the local community. Intermountain Health places a high value on fostering a culture of health and giving back to the communities they serve.

“We believe in supporting the well-being of both our caregivers and the communities that we serve,“ said Brian Pendleton, chief nursing officer of Intermountain Medical Center. “Our ‘Step for a Cause’ challenge was a fantastic way to encourage healthy habits among our staff while simultaneously addressing a critical need for students in Murray. We are thrilled with the results and proud to partner with the Murray Education Foundation and Murray City School District to ensure more children have access to essential items that will help them thrive.”

The Murray Education Foundation also played a key role in coordinating the effort and will oversee the distribution of the shoes to students throughout the Murray City School District.
