About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Collen Plummer shares his story of faith, resilience, and perseverance in his autobiography “No, My Brother, I am My Brother”

By: WebWire

Stories of faith and fortitude amidst adversity will always amaze and transform readers. One such story belongs to Collen Plummer, author of No, My Brother, I am My Brother (Fulton Books; 2021).

The autobiography No, My Brother, I am My Brother narrates the author's struggles with racial discrimination and injustice every day of his life. He speaks at length about the scholarships that he lost for reasons he still doesn't know after breaking national records for track and field at high school. Indeed, his story reflects the injustices black Americans continue to deal with daily no matter their accomplishments.

As readers go through Plummer's story, they cannot help but reflect on “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, who was falsely detained by police in Atlanta early this year after he was mistaken for a bank robber at a bank. In fact, an earlier case of racial injustice – the murder of George Floyd – inspired the author to write No, My Brother, I am My Brother.

“Witnessing a black man having the life choked out of him for ten minutes by a white policeman is one of the main reasons why I wrote this book,” wrote Plummer on the back cover of his book, “because I develop products that save lives and here goes the white man choking the life out of another black man for no reason.”

No, My Brother, I am My Brother does more than just tell the suffering faced by an accomplished black American. The autobiography also highlights the author's strong faith in Jesus Christ and God, who carried him through hard times – and helped open (more) doors for him in life.

“One of the main things I can ever tell a child or parent is that remembering the Lord's name, even before you remember your name, will go a long way in life. That means putting God in your life as soon as possible, and I do believe somebody had to die for our sins, who is Jesus Christ.

“You better have the Lord in your life because the decisions and choices you make in life, you are going to need God. I knew that Fortune 500 companies had tuition reimbursement, so when one door closes in life, another door opens in life, just as long as you have the Lord with you. That's the only way I can make it. Thank you, Jesus!”
