About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

5 Mobile Games That Can Be Great for Esports

It isn’t necessary that you only play esports games on consoles and PCs, you can play them on mobile devices as well. These games are just as exhilarating as the ones you can play on consoles, and the best part is you can play them wherever you are, as long as you have a reliable internet connection.

I personally don’t like to play games using mobile internet, mainly because it’s slow, unreliable and expensive.

At home, I use an Xfinity Internet connection, which gives me a great mobile gaming experience. However, the best part is that Xfinity also offers numerous Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots all over the country, which allows me to play online games anywhere using the same, fast internet.

You can explore Xfinity packages for stellar internet service, and as a bonus, you can add TV service at a reduced cost as well.

Now, coming back to great online games on mobile devices that can be great for esports, here are some that you should definitely check out.

Fortnite Mobile

You’ve probably heard about Fortnite if you’re into battle royale games, but not everyone has the resources to get a PC or a PS5, right? Lucky for you, Fortnite is on mobile phones as well, and it follows the same principle where you can craft items and defenses to improve your gameplay.

While the game is relatively new on smartphones, there’s still room for a lot of improvement in the game.

However, the game still works pretty well if you plan on playing it with your friends. You won’t need a PC or a console for it, all you need are your smartphones, and you’re good to go. Maybe with time, we’ll also see more tournaments in the future that will feature Fortnite Mobile rather than the OG one on consoles and PCs!

PUBG Mobile

This is another one of the most popular games when it comes to mobile games.

In fact, if you head to South Asian countries such as Pakistan and India, you’ll see that the craze is intense. This goes on to show how promising PUBG Mobile is in terms of holding an international tournament.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was initially released on the PC, but it was actually the mobile version that earned it its fame.

The game is free to play, and all you need are skills that can help you win all the matches you play. Just like Fortnite, the basic idea behind the game is battle royale.

You jump off a plane and land at a place of your liking. Then you loot all the gear that you need to survive, including your armor, helmets, guns, and explosives. Then begins the hunt for other players. You have to survive among 99 other players and emerge as the victor.

It’s definitely the kind of game that you can’t miss!

Valorant Mobile

While Valorant Mobile hasn’t hit our devices yet, it is still in development by Riot Games, and it’s set to release in 2025. Even so, Valorant is the kind of game that is pretty promising when it comes to gaming. I’ve played it on the PC for a while, and I had a pretty good time playing it.

The game has a 5v5 setting, and you get to pick a character that has unique abilities, differing from the rest of the characters. It is up to you to figure out which character works the best for you. After that, you just have to build up your skill and your strategy, and you’re all set to dominate.

I have high hopes for the game when it releases on smartphones. Till then, all we can do is wait and sit in anticipation.

Among Us

If Among Us was played at a much larger scale, then the game has a lot of potential for tournaments.

It’s just like playing Mafia using playing cards, you’re on a spaceship with other people, and you need to figure out who the imposters are. The imposters are supposed to eliminate other players and sabotage the equipment on the ship. The crewmates are supposed to carry out tasks and fix the equipment that was sabotaged by the imposters.

However, your strategy isn’t only important as a crewmate while you are trying to figure out who the imposters are, but your strategy also counts as the imposters.

For instance, you have to be a ghost so that none of the crewmates can see you. Similarly, you also have to be sneaky while eliminating other players so that you don’t get detected.

Imagine if this was played at a tournament level!

Brawl Stars

If you’re looking for a special mix between a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) and a Battle Royale game, then Brawl Stars is a great game for you to play.

The game has a diverse community ranging from newbies to pro players, which makes the game quite challenging to play. This also adds a sense of competition to the game whenever you play. This makes Brawl Stars a great option to play in tournaments, and I’m actually expecting to see it get the attention it deserves in the future.

All of these games hold a lot of potential. Now we’ll just have to wait and see when they are integrated into future tournaments!
