Founded by Visionary Pamela French in 2011, Pami Pockets offers women a stylish way to keep their phones within reach. Pamela transformed a simple necessity into a thriving business. In the past 13 years, Pami Pockets has sold over 30,000 units and is featured in dozens of stores including a prominent national chain of casinos.
The journey of Pami Pockets began when the founder, in search of a solution to carry her flip phone, repurposed a little round change purse bought at a yard sale. When the purse could no longer accommodate her upgraded phone, her husband crafted a custom bag in their upholstery shop. This small black bag became an essential daily accessory. The significance of the bag was truly realized during an incident at Lowry Park, where it allowed the founder to quickly call for help when her mother fell and injured herself. This incident highlighted the life-saving potential of the product for women walkers.
Inspired by "The Secret" and the teachings of Bob Proctor, coupled with insights from Tim Ferris's "The 4-Hour Workweek," Pamela took the bold step of leaving her secure job as a Legal Secretary to pursue her vision. With the guidance and support from the Tampa Bay Inventors Council, Pami Pockets evolved from a simple convenience to a fashionable necessity. The company has expanded its product line to include neoprene cell phone purses in various colors and designs, including rhinestone initials and symbols, to cater to the diverse preferences of its customers.
Pami Pockets has continually adapted to meet the needs of its customers. The introduction of larger bags with the release of the iPhone 6 and the upcoming "Pami Purse" designed to hold more than just a cell phone are testaments to the company's commitment to innovation. Pamela French serves as Vice President of the Tampa Bay Inventors Council and is a proud Working Women of Tampa Bay member. She also supports local nonprofits by donating Pami Pockets for fundraising efforts.
As Pami Pockets celebrates its 13th business anniversary, Pamela is donating 20 Pami Pockets to Dress for Success Tampa Bay. The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
