(PRLeap.com) "Helen Walton Bishop: First Woman Off the Titanic! Her Story", a new book by Rachel Boland, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.Most history books remember Helen Walton Bishop simply as a wealthy survivor of the Titanic disaster. However, a new biographical work by local historian Rachel Boland reveals that Bishop's life was defined by far more than a single night at sea. "Helen Walton Bishop: First Woman off the Titanic!" explores the short, rebellious, and ultimately tragic life of a woman who refused to conform to the expectations of her era.
Far from the polished image of a socialite, Helen was known for her spirited nature and a penchant for embellishing her own adventures. Her story took a devastating turn just one year after the Titanic sinking when a severe car accident left her with permanent head trauma. Boland's research follows Helen through her final years, marked by a high-profile divorce, rumors of a secret romance, and her untimely death at the age of twenty-three.
Boland hopes readers will be fascinated by Helen's entire journey. Her childhood and her life before the disaster are just as compelling as her survival. She was a woman of her time who took a very different detour.
