Presented by H&R Block, Ad Meter invites consumers to rate Super Bowl LVIII commercials

USA TODAY, part of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), officially launched the 36th annual Ad Meter competition, the industry’s leading opinion tool for gauging public sentiment around Super Bowl commercials. Since 1989, USA TODAY Ad Meter continues to have significant impact across the advertising landscape, recognizing the intersection of sports, entertainment and pop culture on Super Bowl Sunday. This year’s program, presented by H&R Block, features interactive rating, exclusive video programming and events around this year’s most anticipated and exciting commercials. Kia and State Farm are associate sponsors of the 2024 Ad Meter competition.

Today through February 12 at 1 a.m. EST, registered Ad Meter participants can log in, watch and rate this year’s Super Bowl commercials to determine their favorites and ultimately, this year’s Ad Meter winner. Each participant must rate all Ad Meter-eligible Super Bowl advertisements for their submission to count. The 2024 Super Bowl Ad Meter winner will be announced live on CBS Mornings and at admeter.usatoday.com the morning of February 12.

“It’s exciting to continue to experience the monumental significance of USA TODAY Ad Meter across the Super Bowl commercial landscape,” said Kelly Andresen, President of USA TODAY National Sales at Gannett. “This year we celebrate the program with presenting sponsor H&R Block and associate sponsors Kia and State Farm.”

Collegiate marketing and advertising students from Marist College, Montclair State University, Middle Tennessee State University, Hofstra University and Holyoke Community College will also participate and rate the national commercials on the Ad Meter platform, while also making notes of what they liked, didn’t like, weighing in on what worked, and what missed. These students will select their top 5 and bottom 5 commercials and these results will be published in an article with post-Super Bowl coverage.

“H&R Block is excited to return as a sponsor of the USA TODAY Ad Meter this year,” said Alice Colarusso, Vice President, Marketing, H&R Block. “The Ad Meter represents a unique and fun opportunity for people to share their views and for H&R Block to engage potential clients in partnership with USA TODAY.”

In addition to the traditional Ad Meter ratings, starting February 12 until noon EST on February 16, participants can cast their votes for USA TODAY Ad Meter Replay Ratings, another measurement tool to award commercials in a variety of categories, including most comedic, inspirational/heartwarming, and more.

USA TODAY Ad Meter will also host its annual summit with cultural marketing agency 160over90 on February 8, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Endeavor and TKO Lounge. The brand panel moderated by USA TODAY Ad Meter Editor Rick Suter will include industry leaders from Anheuser-Busch, Mars Wrigley, OREO and Hellmann’s who will discuss and analyze advertising strategies around this year's Super Bowl lineup.

Programming to support this year’s Ad Meter will include behind-the-scenes interviews featuring exciting celebrity guests including Kris Jenner and Chris Pratt across the USA TODAY Network, on admeter.usatoday.com and the USA TODAY channel available on multiple streaming platforms online, from your smartphone, or on your TV, including XUMO, The Roku Channel, Amazon News, Tubi, Samsung TV Plus and more.
