FreeCast is announcing a new agreement with Lilly Broadcasting, expanding its offering of local channels with free versions of two broadcast TV stations. Erie News Now and WENY News are both now available to FreeCast users at no additional cost. As streaming video overtakes linear television and smart televisions become the norm, there’s a tremendous opportunity for broadcast television stations to launch their content on streaming platforms free of charge.
Erie News Now provides news, weather, sports, and community Coverage You Can Count On in northwestern Pennsylvania. WENY News serves the Twin Tiers region of southern New York and northern Pennsylvania with local news, weather, and sports. Both channels are now live on FreeCast. Lilly Broadcasting is a family-owned, privately-held media company which owns and operates television and radio stations in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
Tracy West, FreeCast’s Executive Vice President of Digital Content, discussed the opportunity for terrestrial broadcast stations on the company’s platform: “The way we get TV is changing, but people are always going to want access to their local news, weather, and sports.
