Autonodyne’s Bashi software powered command-and-control between an F-22 and MQ-20

Flight was conducted as part of an ongoing series of flight tests to validate Human-Machine Teaming for U.S. Defense mission sets

On February 13, 2026 Autonodyne LLC worked with the U.S. Air Force to execute a flight test demonstrating human–machine teaming (HMT) between an F-22 fighter and an MQ-20 unmanned aircraft from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. This effort is a continued demonstration under the Department of the Air Force’s sole source contract to Autonodyne for development and integration of a Pilot Vehicle Interface.

During the exercise, Autonodyne’s command-and-control (C2) software, Bashi, served as the pilot vehicle interface (PVI), enabling the F-22 to issue autonomy tasks to the MQ-20. Using the Bashi tablet, the pilot directed the MQ-20 to execute tactical maneuvers, adjust waypoints, and conduct combat air patrol. Autonodyne’s software is platform-agnostic and built on open standards and government reference architectures, enabling seamless interoperability across compliant air, land, and maritime autonomous systems.

The event marks the latest in a series of flight demonstrations supported by the U.S. Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program, part of the Next-Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) family of systems. The program is focused on developing uncrewed aircraft capable of operating alongside current and future crewed fighters to enhance effectiveness in contested environments.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Autonodyne’s Bashi software supported multiple HMT flight exercises across the United States, including demonstrations pairing GA-ASI’s MQ-20 with Lockheed Martin’s F-22 at Edwards Air Force Base and with an F-16 in Tucson, Arizona. These events validated loyal wingman mission execution, with all autonomy commands transmitted and displayed on the tablet.

Collectively, these demonstrations underscore the maturity of Autonodyne’s software and its commitment to advancing HMT and collaborative autonomy. Autonodyne will continue to support an ongoing series of flight demonstrations as the U.S. Air Force CCA development program continues to execute throughout 2026.
