Mallory Portraits, a luxury portrait studio based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, elevates children’s photoshoots into an exciting magical experience with Fairyland of Make-Believe. This immersive photo session enables children ages 3 to 12 to transform into beautiful fairies and charming lost boys while surrounded by the lush foliage of an enchanting fairyland backdrop. But beyond the beautiful portraits, Fairyland of Make-Believe was created for a much deeper purpose.
According to the team, Fairyland is a way to get children out of the pandemic slump and capture their stories through portraits. The children will see themselves becoming the fantastic main character of their unique adventure.
“Fairyland was built out of necessity from the pandemic,” says owner Mallory Parkington. “We were hearing and witnessing children retreating to their bedrooms, becoming uncertain and very anxious. With little social interaction, our kids are at risk of suffering loneliness, self-doubt, feelings of insecurity, and a lack of confidence. We have found children need a boost of hope more than ever. Immersed in a magical, make-believe world, these children are discovering they are powerful, strong, beautiful, and they matter.”
The images captured during the shoot can serve as precious memories years or decades down the line. Every time they see their portrait, they get reminded of how special they are and build a positive perception of themselves.
Members of the crew are friendly and well-versed in working with children. They know how to make the subjects comfortable and highlight their unique charm while ensuring they enjoy every bit of their photoshoot session. After the shoot, the kids and their family can choose their favorite portraits the same day at Mallory Portraits’ theater room.
Fairyland of Make-Believe is an all-inclusive session. Everything needed for an enchanting portrait is included in the set. The fairies can choose their favorite floral crown and their choice of pink, purple, blue, or green dresses. Different outfits for the lost boys are also included, such as vests, shirts, pants, suspenders, and caps. These outfits are curated to fit the whimsical theme of a magical land.
Fairyland sessions are only available during the weekdays. Due to the service’s popularity, only a limited number of spots are available each week. All shoots are conducted in-house at Mallory Portraits’ studio in Portsmouth.
A portion of the photoshoot session fees will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
