Topps Selects Scanbuy to Create an Interactive 2013 MLB All-Star FanFest Using NFC and QR Code Technology

Scanbuy, Inc., the leading mobile engagement solutions provider, today announced that The Topps Company (Topps), the venerable trading card company, is using its ScanLife mobile engagement platform to power NFC and QR Code technology at the 2013 MLB All-Star FanFest in New York from July 12-16.

Baseball fans will be able to use their NFC-enabled smartphones or QR barcode scanner, like the ScanLife Mobile app, to touch or scan any of the designated giant baseball cards featuring MLB All-Stars such as David Wright, Mike Trout and Mariano Rivera. With one touch or scan, fans will have a chance to win prizes that include card sets, Topps’ new Big League Minis and autographed memorabilia.

“Topps is always looking for ways to innovate and to enhance the collector's experience,” said Marc Stephens, marketing manager, Topps. “Working with Scanbuy on this promotion at FanFest is a great way for us to test a new way to do so.”

With more than 100,000 people expected to attend FanFest, Scanbuy will provide Topps a variety of consumer insights with each scan or interaction, delivering valuable business intelligence—all from a single platform. The ScanLife platform offers the flexibility to launch compelling mobile experiences from QR Codes, URLs, NFC and whatever the future brings.

“This is a great opportunity to show how effective an event marketing campaign can be when using mobile engagement technologies like NFC and QR Codes,” said Mike Wehrs, CEO and president of Scanbuy. “Our ScanLife mobile engagement platform has been built to adapt to the changing trends in mobile innovations and behaviors, so we can help companies such as Topps instantly deliver compelling content people appreciate and expect.”
