Books-A-Million to Welcome #IMOMSOHARD YouTube Stars and Authors, April 8

Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, first-time authors of “#IMomSoHard, are making a stop in Katy to share their hilarious struggles of motherhood. Books-A-Million invites guests to join the authors for a book signing and meet-and-greet event on Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at Taylor High School Performing Arts Center, located at 20700 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy, Texas.

Hensley and Smedley know their readers probably didn’t get to shower today, and the last thing they need is advice on all the stuff they’re doing wrong. Instead, they talk nipple hair, sex after marriage, mom-bods and their unhealthy obsession with Khal Drogo from “Game of Thrones.” The YouTubers’ first release is packed with the back-and-forth, laugh-out-loud best-friend banter that the hysterical duo are known for, with plenty of real talk about post-partum depression, bullying and the dark thoughts that plague every mom. Throughout it all, they know the ups-and-downs of motherhood often have nothing to do with kids – and that it’s the female friendships and solidarity with other moms that make it all worthwhile.

“We have all heard about women being mom-shamed. We sort of found that might just be a world that lives online,” said Smedley on the truth behind being a mother. “In the real-world, real moms have your back.”

Hensley and Smedley have been performing, teaching and writing comedy for a combined 40+ years. They have been moms for one quarter of that time – and it shows. From Pinterest-induced panic, to trying to get kids to eat just one damn green bean, to wondering why it feels like they disappeared the day they became a mom – they get it. They know firsthand that parenting is a hard job and they invite their fans to join them in taking it all a little less seriously. After all, Jen currently has four days of dry shampoo in her hair and Kristin’s keys are still in her front door. They try, they fail, they support each other, and they mom as hard as they can.

Available at imomsohardbam.eventbrite.com, tickets are required to attend and include a copy of “#IMomSoHard.” Photo opportunities will be available at the signing table.
