Police investigating death of a man at Ebara Intl., Wednesday morning.
PRLog - Dec. 11, 2014 - RENO, Nev. -- SPARKS, NV - OSHA and Sparks police are investigating the death of a man at Ebara International, Wednesday morning.
Shortly after 6AM December 10, 2014, emergency crews were dispatched to the Cryodynamic [Cryogenic] Pump division of a machining and welding company called Ebara International Corporation at 45 Vista Boulevard, regarding a horrible industrial accident.
Police say the victim had been operating a vertical lathe machine when, they think, a piece of his clothing got caught in the machine, slowly pulling the man into the machine and killing him.
Ebara International Cryogenic Pump division has identified the man as 33-year-old Jason Cheely. Sentiments have been shared on Facebook about his death.
The machine area is shut down until Monday so co-workers have time to process what happened and grieve, according to a company spokesman.
He also says pending the OSHA report, safety training will be evaluated and reinforced.
Statement from Ebara International:
"We are cooperating with OSHA to keep it from happening again. Ebara is very sad and it is a difficult time for our employees."
